Jan Harding went into Dickey's Barbeque Pit in South Jordan, Utah, on August 10 hoping to enjoy a nice sweet tea. Instead, she nearly died.

This surveillance video was just released and it shows her taking a sip of tea, then quickly realizing something was terribly wrong. An employee had accidentally mixed it with a toxic cleaning chemical instead of sugar. Harding suffered from burns to her throat caused by the chemical.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office announced it won't pursue criminal charges in the case, according to CNN affiliate KSTU. But the family's own case is still pending.

Dickey's issued this statement at the time of the incident: "We are keeping the entire Harding family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident in South Jordan, Utah. Nothing like this has occurred in the 73 years we have operated. There is nothing more important to us than the trust and safety of our guests. The independent owner of the South Jordan location is deeply saddened by this incident; he is fully cooperating with authorities as they investigate how this tragic event occurred.”

I agree. They said in the video that the toxic chemical had been mistakingly mixed in with the sugar 5 weeks prior to the incident and it was never discarded. Sounds like a management problem.

It's by the grace of God she was the only one that drank it and had this reaction. If a group of people were affected by this, that place would have been shut down and the upper management would have been sued.
