Hello everyone, I'm really happy today as we've made some good progress, my i-130 for "Petition for Alien Relative U.S. citizen filing for an unmarried son or daughter over 21" has been approved (It was submitted on Feb.2012)! :D

Any tips or recommendations as to what I or my petitioner should be preparing for?

Alright I read up the National Visa Center guide but seems to be oriented towards spouses? So I guess the NVC will get the petition from the USCIS and then it will take 5-6 years from now?

I thought "Unmarried Son of US Citizen OVER 21" (F1) - My case - had priority over (F2B) "Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents"? It's showing F2B are in 01NOV07 meanwhile F1 are in 22MAY07.

Sorry this is all very confusing to me. Specially when I see some people in the same category as me getting through the NVC process in months time instead of years like this one:

hi

now you just have to wait until your priority date becomes current, then the second part of the process begins, that's where it takes months

for now, nothing will happen, it will stored at the NVC until your priority date becomes current

anything can happen, the F1 can catch up to F2B

Hey Andres!

Just read where you are up to with it all, congratulation on the approval!!!!

The only thing now would be to wait and keep your eye on the Visa Bulletin. This gives an idea of the timescales and what dates are being processed currently, it's not always exact but it gives you a rough idea. The Bulletin is normally released on or around the 10th of the month which will give information for the coming month. You can find this online, I normally type US Visa Bulletin into Google and it comes up.

I'm hoping the F1 category speeds up soon, I changed from an F2B only last year so I'm gutted to see the F2B has now overtaken the F1.... I have an I-130 too, I have been waiting since Feb 2008 so hopefully not long to go now!!

My Mum (US Citizen/petitioner) calls the USCIS every 3-4 months for a check up however most of the time they are only able to tell you whats on the Bulletin. I think it's out of hope if anything!! lol

Hope this helps!! :)
