People thought I was french. They would speak to me in french and I would have no0 clue. Finally I would say, "I don't know what you are saying." Then I was left alone.

On my last trips to India and Nepal I have been taken for Italian quite often for some reason, maybe because I lived there for 2 years at one point?

Since both trips have been during GWB's reign of terror(I was in Himachal during 'Shock and Awe', which tainted an otherwise awesome trip in the mountains ), if it were just a shopkeeper or passerby asking the question I would just roll with it, luckily I can speak darn near fluent Italian to back it up...

actually i dont think anyone has called me anything. i know they start speaking arabic to me and im totally clueless and then my husband has to tell them she is american and dont speak arabic. i guess i must have the arabic look about me.

My husband is the "Ami" (American) in Germany and me as well... because we always show up together. So we are the "Amis".

I'm just called either American, Yank, or Yankee. My fiance is from England though so they are more familiar with Americans, and unless they were to hear me talk they wouldn't really know I wasn't English . I have noticed though people tend to ask me about famous US people because they realize that my accent is different (Same with England, different accents) and they tend to ask me where I am at in relation to where those people are from, or where those people are from because their accents sound totally different. I'm guessing that's the same for just about every country.

When my fiance comes here, they call him just simply Brit... my dad called him "The brit" He did call him Liverpool for a while until he went to the UK and realized they have different accents for different parts and he had only heard the accent of "The beatles" so to him, everyone from England was from Liverpool.

The guys say... there goes the "puti" <white> girl, in Tagalog, when I answer in Tagalog they are kinda shocked, I was sitting on the patio at my honeys haus and two girls came up to me and asked me if I was Filipina(ROLF! LOL!)??? A lot of people in the Philippines start trying to practice talking Spanish to me. Well my honee calls me BabyJello Girl( referring to d jello shots! LOL!)
