The power to change the channel, go next door, and look away is far superior to bumper stickers and slogans.

I'm not sure how you mean for 'go next door' in this context.

Its not forcing anything. If you don't want to be in a gay marriage, you don't have to be. It doesn't affect you. If you think it means they're going to hell or something, fine. It still doesn't affect you.

As for me, I could care less about same sex couples. I don't care what they do, or what they want. Doesn't matter to me in the least. I do however care a lot when an individual or a people attempt to force a business to make a wedding cake when the business chooses not to do so. No matter how red in the face the individual, people, or organization gets it just won't ever work. Their firm in their belief, and those who refuse to change the channel and go next door lose.

Where would you draw the line on their right to refuse service? Is racial discrimination for services allowed?

Clever, but please, don't muddle the water by diverting to other topics. As for drawing the line, I find it here:

No trick intended. I'm wondering if you support the right to be given service based on other factors. I think being homosexual is for the most part a "born that way" thing but you may not. From my point of view, people should never be discriminated against for something they were born with or have no control over.

As for them closing under threat of protest..... thems the breaks ya know. The govt didn't force them to, activists pressured them into closing. That's part of freedom of expression. The govt didn't close them down.

If there were threats of violence indeed, then that should be reported to and would be investigated by the authorities. The campaign that was started against the business is no less fair game than what the business was doing. One could say that LBGT stood up for what they believe in. And they have a right to do that. While they still have to fight for their right to marry across the country, the First Amendment is a right that homosexuals enjoy. Maybe self-proclaimed Christians can do something about that...

In a way I agree. But that's where it gets complicated. We are all confined to live together on this little round ball in the sky. Everyone has a point of view for whatever reason. To hope or believe that we will ever get along on even a single topic is far fetched. It's so unlikely to happen in a human life time that a better investment is to find places where we can agree. I can point at things I believe to be unjust and unfair in life all day. If I choose to do so, I would do nothing else but point.

Exactly! They're just miffed that homosexuals have that right. If they could, they'd like to take that away from them too. Some Christians...

You know, the lady probably could have got away with not serving a single GLBT couple and still have had her bakery if she'd just said 'let me check my book... no, sorry, I have several really elaborate wedding cakes already booked for that month and there's not a single spot I can fit you in. So sorry. I hope you have a great wedding!' and sent people on their way. She chose to say 'I won't serve a gay wedding' and the GLBT community said 'okay, we'll make sure everyone knows that you discriminate against gays.'

I really have zero sympathy for her. Especially since she's still making wedding cakes, by special order, through online only ordering...

(apparently q.u.e.e.r is a dirty word on VJ. Can't say the ####### community. BUT IF I SAY VJ OUT LOUD IT TOTALLY SOUNDS LIKE A EUPHEMISM FOR A LADY'S PRIVATE PARTS.)
