Our interview is three weeks today and going over some paperwork last night I found some questions I need to ask, apologies for having more than a couple:

(I am the non-USC applicant, my wife is the USC)

1. Are original W2s needed for the USC, the joint sponsor and myself?

2. We don't get joint bank statements mailed to us, is it OK to print the one they post to our online banking?

3. Do we need social security card (mine or my wife)?

4. We are filling out a new I864 due to a slight change in circumstances. Now I am a little forgetful so if I forget to give to them, is that OK, do they specifically ask if we have a new one or should I write myself a note.

5. Do I need to take that lovely x-ray with me?

6. This what I plan to take for supporting docs:

  • Joint bank statement
  • cable company letter showing we both have access to the account
  • joint car insurance
  • joint renters insurance
  • joint apartment lease
  • wedding album
  • other photos

Is it enough, or we we need anything else?

Thanks, Simon

1. For affidavit of support I had submitted copies of w2s and taxes for 3 years.

2. I would guess if that's all you get it would have to be ok. I actually had photocopies of all the "evidence" that we gave to the lady because I do not part with originals.

3. Mine and hubby's social sec. cards are always in our wallets, but we werent' asked for them.

4. They didn't ask us for a new one. If they don't ask or say anything then they've accepted your application, why submit something new for them to have to delay over?

5. Nope. The X Ray is useless now

6. Looks pretty good. They honestly didn't ask us for much.

Do you have joint health insurance?

Do you have wills and/or life insurance policies that lists you as each other's beneficiaries?

Do you have any personal correspondence addressed to both of you, like Christmas cards, etc?

these might be additional evidences you might want to take with you. Your list looks pretty good. :)

As far as question four is concerned: between us filing AOS and the interview, Jerry received a raise, and we filed our taxes, so our affidavit of support was slightly different. Our adjudicator went through the form confirming the information (are you still employed with so and so, etc) -- when he got to Jerry's income figure, we told him it's changed, and handed over the updated employer letter that confirmed the change. The adjudicator then made a notation on the form. If things have changed, bring a new affidavit or bring proof of what has changed.

1. Are original W2s needed for the USC, the joint sponsor and myself?

Take originals AND 1 copy for the interview incase they want it for their records.

2. We don't get joint bank statements mailed to us, is it OK to print the one they post to our online banking?

You can print it out online.

3. Do we need social security card (mine or my wife)?

I don't believe it's required, but it doesnt hurt to take the originals and a 1 copy of each person's SSN number.

4. We are filling out a new I864 due to a slight change in circumstances. Now I am a little forgetful so if I forget to give to them, is that OK, do they specifically ask if we have a new one or should I write myself a note.

They usually don't ask for a new I-864 unless you submitted your initial one more than 1 yr ago. With that said, if there are any changes to income, jobs, etc., it is your responsibility to give them a new one. Therefore, write yourself a note and give them the new one.

5. Do I need to take that lovely x-ray with me?

There are differing opinions on this one. If its not too much of a headache, i'd side with caution and take them. Chances are you won't need it, but who knows..

6. This what I plan to take for supporting docs:
  • Joint bank statement
  • cable company letter showing we both have access to the account
  • joint car insurance
  • joint renters insurance
  • joint apartment lease
  • wedding album

Is it enough, or we we need anything else?

Seems like enough to me. Make sure you take copies of all that stuff so they can keep them if the officer chooses to.
