Well why should he care about knowing any thing? He's already decided for himself and his wife that it is one place they will never visit.

Every time he said something my jaw just dropped. Telling someone you just met you will never visit their country, and in the way he did! I truly hope, for Amy's sake, that he was just putting on a show for the sake of the show, and that he is not really that close minded.

He seemed so stiff with those lines, I'm fairly certain that was scripted. Add in how many times the topic of the father being a racist has been brought up before, each time seeming rather stiff, and its even more hints to being scripted. You can't give regular people scripted lines and have it come off as that believable, and this show is pretty good proof of that.

True. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a racist, but of course there needs to be drama. So the producers most likely just wanted to blow it up and gave the dad all these ridiculous lines to say. Or I hope so, otherwise there is something seriously wrong with him.

If you were to find any of the people from the shows on social media, they are out there, you can see what they say about how much is staged for drama's sake. Like the dirty green swimming pool, that was dyed for the show. Even watching the show, you can see where they slip up and show secondary characters with high drama personalities being who they really are, which is pretty much just normal people.

See, here's a problem though. Who really wants to be on a (let's be honest, here) trashy reality television show THAT badly that they're willing to allow themselves and/or those who they (allegedly) love look like terrible people? They can't possibly be getting paid *that* much to justify me allowing my own father to say to my fiance *to her face on tv* the nasty things he said to her. I'm not exactly rolling in gobs of excess cash myself but there is *zero* chance I allow that that sort of embarassment to happen to the person I love, no matter what the payout is.

And all that being said--jezus Danny. If you knew that your dad was that bad (or a shadow of that bad), you know how you handle this? YOU go to HER. Go to South Africa to meet her family first. Stay a week or two, get to know her and her country and her culture (and make sure to send home a ton of pictures and stories so that your family which apparently has a second grade level of understanding of the world outside the US can begin to grasp the concept that there is actually civilization outside our borders) and then come back together to start the 90 day clock. Yes, money is tight. I get it. But some things are worth the sacrifice, even to the point of taking on some debt. This is your future WIFE here, bub. The mother of your children. You maybe want to think about her and her needs a bit more? Maybe? Make it clear to your fiance and your families (especially yours) that you're a team here. And equals. And maybe tell good ol' Dad that if he can't be pleasant, then he can chose to not come. That he is invited and welcome but he needs to consider if he is able to be present and also act like a human being, and if not, make a mature choice to stay away so that he won't ruin it for everone else.

You know what you *don't* do? Bring her over, abandon her in the middle of the countryside with a bunch of strangers (who apparently are so ill-prepared to meet her that they ask her to "say something in African"? Seriously? You didn't think to send them to the Wikipedia page for South Africa first? Do YOU know anything about South Africa, buddy?), neglect to take a single day off of work or a single hour off of your regularly scheduled family/social time, expect her to fit in seamlessly into your pre-existing life, make zero room for her AND let her meet her racist xenophobe of a future father-in-law with little more preparation than "heads up, my dad has an issue with your race".

GAH.

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. I think she actually did mention about the editing as well, which makes me think that when they watch the show, it is probably the first time they see how their actions and sentences were edited to be more dramatic than it really was.

And it seems like they don't have a grasp of what is going on in the rest of the US either (his comment about the interracial marriage that is not accepted here). :D

I like all the trash talk that goes with these type of shows also  Doesn't matter that I know most of what they're showing is BS, I still actually like this show.

And after over three years of being married to my wife here, I just now found out our marriage is not accepted here. Why didn't anyone tell us that before? I mean we have all types of people tell us how much they like us, and many have said we're an inspiration even, but they really find us unacceptable! Oh my lord, what will we do now

Actually, I read somewhere that he got the idea for the K1 visa from the first season of 90 Day Fiance--I of course don't remember where now, so take that with a grain of salt.

And in terms of the editing thing--I mean if the conversation with Danny's day was staged, WHY would you agree to that? Why would you, Danny, agree to let you Dad look that bad and insult the woman you love all for a TV show? It's either real or it's fake and either way it was badly mishandled.

Oh and ha, yes for sure. My first reaction was "what? where? is this guy for real? I thought those people gave up interracial marriage and started picking on the gays instead. ohh maybe he's a time traveler").

I said that relative to the whole thing where Amy has been asked if she "lives in a hut". For christs sake, people. Really? I can understand it from children. Young children. But not full grown adults who not only "should know better" in the colloquial sense of the term but really SHOULD know better.....like be aware of the fact that, gee, I don't know, there are modern, Western-style cities on the continent of Africa? Some of the largest cities in the world? Older than many New World cities? Absurd.

Absurd.

Catherine don't be shocked about the living in a hut comment. Sometimes I still get asked if I lived in an igloo when I was living in Canada.

That's just sad, seriously. Ah well. Let the small-minded under-educated mouth-breathers live in their bubble. Just leaves more world for the rest of us to explore :)

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

I haven't been on VJ for a long time and then I see this post, want to read the gossip about the young Morrocan guy and his rather old, mentally retarded US fiance and you guys don't even talk about them.

Very disappointing . . .

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Lol we have been talking about them! We even found her profile here. They just haven't been featured much on the last 2 episodes so there hasn't been anything new to talk about!

Hi, Brother Hesekial. This is Sofiyya. I lost my original account and haven't bothered to get it back, so, I look new.

Mohamed is Tunisian, not Moroccan, and there is so much dirt on them, I don't know where to start, so, I'll make a list that such keep you busy for a while.

1.Dani Mullins and Mohamed Jbali married on July 9 in an open air ceremony despite the fact that she lost her job in May and has not been able to pay for his AOS or find a sponsor (see the Nov. 30 episode). She also posted about losing her job in posts on VJ (see earlier posts here for the links).

2. They don't sleep together, are not intimate, aren't even friends on FB.

3. Dani's son, Corey, has an extensive civil and criminal record. Number 252 filed on 11/03/2014 is for a domestic violence charge leading to a restraining order against him to protect Mohamed from attacks by Corey. Source: http://tinyurl.com/n8evedv
