Can't get DL or ID renewed

My husband and I went in to get his ID renewed and for him to take his DL test. Well the ladies at the office said they could not give him one until he had actually greencard in hand or stamp in passport. On the website it does not say this, to the contrary it states that an adjustment applicant can take passport or EAD along with proof of applying for adjustment. Those ladies would not budge, it is so upsetting! I will just try another DL service center, I guess but right now I am just so frustrated with the whole immigration process!

hmmmmm........I renewed my DL today....took my old license....my new EAD card and they renewed it on the spot...no charge! I din't need proof of applying for AOS.

married Dec '03 in US

Feb 04...... I 130 filed......................approved August 04

March 04... I 129F filed....................approved October 04

August 04...I 130 for children filed....approved September 04

Interview: Jan 19 2005 in Sydney

If your state says that you can use the EAD and passport and this office says no, see if you can locate another DMV office in your state and try there. Print out a copy of the requirements and have it with you in hand to show them. Ask them to show you the regulation that states you need to show a Green Card if they insist. Ask to speak to a supervisor, if necessary. Good luck.
