Hi,

I was just wondering what are your wedding/elopement/party plans?

Do you plan a big/small wedding or will you rather go for an elopement?

Have your friends planned you a bachelor(ette) party, do you or not at all?

What arrangements have you already done or do you plan to do?

My fiancé and I will elope and in 1.5year we'll celebrate the wedding with both our families and have a simple but nice wedding (with the white peincess dress and all lol) but I would like to know what are your plans and how do you see it all happen?

I would like to go out with my man the night before our elopement and before I travel I will go out with my friends but we haven't really planned a Bachelorette party.

I wish you all a good week :)

We had our ceremony at a state park, with a JP, my children and my mother present. After we had a big dinner at our home with about a dozen friends. While we were waiting for the K1 stuff to go through, I slowly bought everything everyone would need for the wedding. His wedding ring, my dress, my shoes, my children's outfits, the groom's outfit, my flowers (latex, feel-real calla lilies), my jewelry, any accessories for people. That helped mitigate the cost (Amazon is ok).

I also built up a big wedding registry, and started contacting locations for the ceremony, looking into vendors and such. Since we had no definite date, we realized we couldn't book one, and decided to do a bigger ceremony next year, when we could save up for it.

It was very small and intimate, next summer we plan on doing a much bigger shindig. :)

My fiance and I are going to have an intimate ceremony in my home state. We don't intend on inviting any family members, possibly just my mother. We looked into a number of options but neither of us think it's a good idea to spend thousands on a wedding, especially since his family can't come that quickly on short notice. We plan on having a bigger bash for our one year vow renewal.

We also didn't want to do nothing and end up just doing a civil ceremony at the courthouse. So far we're looking at a 'just us' bed and breakfast stay in a gorgeous rural area locally. It includes a two night stay in their best room, dinner, breakfast, a small ceremony with cake, vows, etc.. It's perfect for us and we can have a day or two to go around and be touristy. It works for us. I always wanted a big wedding but as long as I'm marrying him, I don't care what we do. If all our budget could afford was a courthouse wedding, we'd do that instead.

We plan to have our wedding soon after getting her SS number at a place in the town next to my parents's city. It is a nice place that my brother has his wedding reception at. In the back there is a nice courtyard with a trellis we will be married under before moving the party indoors. I have been talking with the owner for several months now and he completely understands our situation. He reassured me that he can put it together quickly for 50-200 people in a short time, as once he did so on a day's notice. I think we will be married within 6 weeks of her coming here, at least that is the plan for now. Seems like it will be a winter wedding and honey moon so we are looking at South Florida beaches for a relaxing honeymoon if it is warm enough. I just want to be with my baby, even if we stay home, just miss her so much.

What a lovely topic!

We are actually planning to have 2 weddings - the first one in my sweetheart's home town of Tbilisi (Georgia) with his family and friends. Those middle eastern guys will not allow me to take away their boy without a proper wedding of 200-300 guests and a fabulous feast. Since I am bringing him on K-1 visa, the marriage will not be official, but just the church blessing, which is more important for those guys then the court paper. Then we are planning to book the best hotel room in Tbilisi for our wedding night. And like every girl, I am dreaming of a magnificent dress, looking for one already.

Then, when he comes here, we are thinking of going to Hawaii to have the beach wedding and our honeymoon there. It's not very likely that any friends will be able to join us there, so, that will be the celebration for 2.

It sounds romantic and beautiful ! I also noticed some B&B have those packages, it's intimate and romantic ! I totally love it!

It's soooo great that you found a place that can put it all up with a not so long notice. You've got all the excitement of the K1 visa and wedding planning :D

Planning on going to Las Vegas rent a Helicopter and fly over the strip at night and getting married in the air.

Can they actually do that??? :D I was like wooooooow when I read this, it's sooo unique! Then again it's LasVegas lol they can make anything happen. Sounds super exciting !!!

We're going the CR1 route and wanted to do something that wouldn't annoy family either side of the pond but still be fun and have meaning for us. This time next week I'll be Mrs H. Eek!!

Earlier last year I started looking at what options we had for a wedding and we had a lot of discussion about what our wants are and if any are really must haves, since with a K1 you really haven't the luxury of time or lengthy planning.

We've always wanted an outdoor wedding so that's where we looked first. It's impossible to plan anything major so I started looking at actually how many people we'd have. Most of his main family will be flying over and as it's expensive we won't have too many guests, something like 20. There were a lot of disappointments.. venues that were too much or would not be accommodating to us. Eventually I found a local historical restaurant that offers wedding ceremonies outside and overlooking the water. We won't have need for dancing or partying so we've decided to just rent a room there and have a nice big dinner with everyone afterwards. It's bucking tradition a little sure, but we're trying to be inclusive for everyone on a budget. Most everything will be purchased and set up before he arrives. Dress shopping will be the most nerve-wracking thing. I wonder if it's worth it to even sign up for a registry though..

I hate to disappoint anyone on his side of the family who might be hoping for something big and party-heavy, but this is our day afterall, and these are the circumstances we have. If I imagine how it will go, is that everyone will enjoy themselves, I won't fall down in my gown, my Dad won't start sobbing, everyone will be able to understand each other's accents, and no one gets smashed. So typical bride worries right? ;-)
