Hitler was a christian.... right?

No he wasn't; nor did he claim to be.

What religion did he follow?

None, really, unless you count Nazism as a kind of mystical/religious philosophy. Nazism specifically rejected any form of revealed religion, and most specifically Judaism and Christianity. Hitler did have an appreciation for the hierarchical structure of Roman Catholicism, but he rejected its doctrinal content.

Hmm... I always thought he was catholic. maybe i was wrong.

anyway my point was supposed to be that there are bad people who follow other religions too.

He may have been baptized Catholic, but then everyone in Austria was then.

Yeah I was baptized Catholic too.... doesn't make me catholic though, although some of my friends seem to believe once you're baptized you are catholic for life.

Commenting on religion requires intense study and knowledge of history and actually saying that you have read the good books these religions are based upon.

Otherwise you have no idea what you are talking about (no offense). It is not a simple subject and there is much to know in order to understand the truth of it all.

We no return to our regularly scheduled program. :D

Commenting on the perception of a religion does not, however. Perception is not necessarily, if ever, based on fact.

Reminder of the topic at hand: "Negative perceptions of Islam increasing" ;)

On another note, I am getting completely tired of all the Islamic articles on VJ. :bonk: Maybe it's just me, but it seems like every other day there is something being posted negatively regarding Islam.

The truth hurts.

It's not the truth it's you warped view on things...does your life revolve around bashing Islam? I know darn well mine doesn't revolve around bashing other religions despite what was thrown at me growing up...

I'm against all fundamentalist extremists who try to shove their beliefs in my face. I mean all, christian and muslim.

I think we need to throw male bashing into this muslim bashing mix rich. After all, most of the muslim extremists running around on TV news are men

I dont Understand After Reading All this that shy islam is fastest Growing Religion in USA even after WTC Attacks.

I've seen this repeated before, but I've never seen any study or statistics to back this up. Where are some figures showing that Islam is gaining more converts in this country than other religions?

Everyone of those studies includes BIOLOGICAL growth (actually, this accounts for over 65% of the growth).

A study commissioned by Charles Hardinge (during his term as Viceroy--btw, Indians consider Curzon, Minto and Hardinge all as horrendously bad viceroys) showed that dalits (current term--the term then used was "untouchables") who converted to Islam had 85% back-conversion (and this was with the oppression that they already knew) rates in one year; dalits who became Christians had less than 10% back-conversions.

I don't know if there are figures showing that Islam is gaining "more converts" in the U.S. than "any other religion" per se.... but most sources (including the U.S. government) agree that Islam is certainly growing at rates "faster than most."

Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions in the United States today. According to one recent survey, there are 1,209 mosques in America, well over half founded in the last 20 years. Between 17 and 30 percent of American Muslims are converts to the faith.

I believe this would be the case for ALL religions.... the majority of adherents are "born" into a particular faith, rather than being converted to it. (In some faiths, such as Judaism, the percentage of "biological" increase would be well above 95 %.)

This would depend somewhat on the country.

Christianity is growing gangbusters in parts of Africa, as well as (reality, not shown by media or government census) India; I personally saw evidence of it last May (when LEF Annual Retreat had to be SPLIT to acommodate attendees--many of whom come from farflung areas, having to travel 3+ days by bus/train).

For Judaism, that figure looks accurate enough (as the procedure to convert to Judaism is rather convoluted--and seems to be designed more to DISCOURAGE it).
