Wow, that is useless.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they will advance the official processing times to/past your date. I'd try and file a service request the minute this happens!

I was able to speak to a Tier 2 officer a couple days ago and she put in an inquiry. She also said that my case has not been assigned yet. I've gotten a hold of my congresswomen and she will be making an inquiry soon as well. I'm starting to get down about this whole process, but I'm still trying to stay the slightest bit positive. My fiance has been a trooper throughout this entire process. I'm wishing soon approvals for everyone!

The problem is, is they will just backdate the actual date to something every month or 2 to a date that will always be within the "timeline". Meaning we can never make an actual inquiry. Even when they gave the last date, they were already processing applications significantly past that.

I'm so frustrated that I've completely moved to "I don't even care anymore".

Good luck with the inquiry by your congressperson ... let us know how it goes. My only concern with that would be that they might be doing it just a bit soon. My local office has told me that it would not be in my best interest to inquire at this point. Instead they recommend waiting until the next update, in the hope that the "normal processing times window" will pass me by or at least be close enough that I can open a service request, in addition to the inquiry thing. But that's just me of course, do as you wish. I'm interested to see what happens...

Understand the don't-care-anymore thing, but I don't understand the first part. They advance the beginning of the "normal processing times" window each month or so and if your NOA1 date falls before that, you can open a service request. Heck, wbeem technically missed the cutoff this last time around by a couple of days (maybe three or four, don't remember now) but they were still able to open a service request. If you're much outside of a handful of days, I suspect you won't be allowed to follow suit, so I'm hoping that the date moves to September 6 or 7 at the least. If so, I plan to take action, yes, absolutely.

Anyway........gotta get to work.

Interesting. What does 'Not in your best interest' mean?

It means that if they make an inquiry too soon, that inquiry will have no real effect because the congressman's office will be told that you're still within the "normal processing times" window and that you need to continue to wait. They also mentioned, indirectly, that too many inquiries on your behalf begin to lose their effect; kinda like the ol' crying-wolf-too-often story: they'll stop listening. So basically, my "best interest" is to wait until the window has passed me by, then make an all-out assault (if you will) to include the congressman's inquiry. That was their recommended strategy and I've decided to go along with it. FWIW. YMMV.

They will probably set the processing late July early August. You can't make an inquiry until you've gone 30 days after you've passed your application date. So at this rate, you'll not be able to do anything about it...at this rate...in *at least* 2 months (from when they publish the next dates). In other words, you never hit that date.

Even if you do a congressional inquiry, USCIS is only required to respond within 30 days as well. So basically you can never do anything about it. I suspect it's a really small percentage of people that ever hit that.

The date is currently August 2, 2014. So you're thinking that they're gonna back it up to the end of July or leave it where it is pretty much? That would definitely be an interesting turn of events! Of course, your calculation might be factoring in the processing date minus 30 days. Perhaps that's what you're getting at.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

As far as August 2, I mean, you get my point. The target is constantly changing in a way that you can't ever make a real inquiry. Plus that inquiry might not even get anywhere other than "you will be assigned a case worker soon".

But like I've said before. Not much we can do until it's all done. It is what it is. Only reason I am pursuing anything is just to make myself feel like I'm doing all I can, which makes me feel better somehow. It is what it is.

Well, when I spoke to the Tier 2 officer she admitted that TSC is delayed and that it's not too soon to put in an inquiry. She was actually really nice and apologized for the processing delay. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, my congressman put in an inquiry, which results in a "TSC is delayed 7 months". Which is different from both the 5 and 6 months he's been given. Just goes into my "moving target" theory. An inquiry doesn't mean anything at all will be done about it. But it won't hurt doing it. Not asking is always a no.

Yeah acoleman, this result is exactly my point. I hope you have a better result, but at the same time I hope you aren't getting too excited over the possibility either. But who knows, we'll see.

I fully expect to be told to go away for 30 days when and if I inquire after the window has passed me by. Heck, there might even be trolls who work in the TSC/USCIS who monitor the forum, writing down names, taking notes, etc. And they'll try to thwart my inquiry attempt. Lol

I seriously doubt that. They are government workers who just want to do their job and go home. There will be no emotional attachment to the process (and I actually think that's a good thing). There is no reason for them to care about people complaining. Doesn't affect them.

Yes, William posted about that. If I recall, he was first told to wait. He then protested and they put in a service request. That said, three weeks later when our approval did come in the service request was still unassigned. I spoke to a late July filer on here the other day and they put in a request just before we did. They are still waiting :( However, the point is, they did process the request. despite us being a couple of days outwith the processing times.

It's so discouraging to see so few approvals lately. I have somehow become quite invested in everyone's approval. Nobody should have to wait 224 days to be approved. Not us. Not you. Let us know the outcome. I hope that you are approved before it even comes to that though.
