Congrats on your approval. I've waited so long that for me an extra month or two of waiting is all the same to me. Whether I am approved tomorrow or in May or never, the damage is done -- a year of our lives is wasted and will never return.

That's true :( as sad as it is.. I think after the third month of waiting and seeing how things were going was really upsetting..made life a bit more bitter

I find it strange that there was only like 1 September filer approved this week. Well counting on tomorrow too but still... I know it's a small sample size to draw conclusions from but jeez it's almost April. Pretty anxious to see where this transfer deal leaves us.

Workload Transfer within Service Center Operations

USCIS recently made two operational changes to balance our overall workload.

Workload Realignment

USCIS recently began transferring some Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, cases filed by lawful permanent residents for their eligible family members from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center.

If your case was transferred, USCIS will send you a notice listing the transfer date and where your case will be processed. Your original receipt number will not change and this will not delay the processing of your cases except for the additional time needed to transfer the file.

Effective March 27, 2015, USCIS will transfer the adjudication of some cases to balance our overall workload. The affected cases include those filed with the following forms:

  • I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)
  • I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker
  • I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (employment and asylum-based only)
  • I-821D/I-765, Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals/ Application for Employment Authorization (initial and renewal requests)

The filing location and instructions for these forms will not change. Please continue to file the forms at the address noted on the form instructions and on the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov.

How to Track the Status of Your Case

You can check your case status at Case Status Online by entering your receipt number. You can also sign up to receive automatic case status updates by email.

You can ask us about the status of your case if you do not receive a decision within the published processing time. You may submit an inquiry using e-Request or call the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283. For TDD hearing-impaired assistance, please call 1-800-767-1833. When asking about your case status, tell us your original receipt number and also say that your case was transferred to a new location.

If we send you any notice (such as a request for evidence), please read the notice carefully and follow the instructions provided.

If you move while your case is pending, you must inform USCIS of your address change. You may do so online or by calling the NCSC. It is important that you notify us of any address change as soon as possible, so that you continue to receive notifications from USCIS.

I wonder if the hold up in approvals this week is because they were waiting to see what they were going to do with petitions that have yet to be approved.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

So now the TSC won't do anything about our case until March 27. Then it will take several months to transfer it to another service center. Then (if it does not get lost on the way), it will be looked at with, at best, the usual speed of CSC (3 months, is it)? I had a bit of hope that the case may be decided in the next month or two. Looks like now it will be another 6 months or more. I see nothing positive in this particular announcement.

During the last transfer in August, those being transferred were adjudicated within a month of the transfer date. And if you're a September filer, which I can't confirm because you don't have a timeline, you probably won't be transferred.

I am a september filer. It's been over 6 months. USCIS processing is terribly slow but, in my experience with government bureaucracy in general, any change (no matter how well intentioned) will only result in degraded service. Very disappointed (and really not sure what to do now).

I am getting so annoyed with this process at this point. So I get a phone call from my congresswoman office telling me she had great news for me so literally my heart dang near stopped only for her to tell me my request for expedite has been approved not my dang case but the request to expedite it. After six months of waiting I don't know how in the world they feel like this is such wonderful news but ok. It took everything in me not to tell this lady where she can go and how fast she can get there. Then she tells that it as approved since March 10 and any minute now I should hear something. Ugh this phone call was just insulting.

I would like to post this for those of you who would like to take the steps that I did & I fully believe this this is the way I get an approval as up until last night- I was where the rest of you are. At the beginning of February, I like many others wrote my State Senator to do an inquiry into my case. I filled out the form, wrote the letter, etc. I was told that they would "get answers for me". I followed up with my Senator twice after that & never got a response. At that point I decided to go in person- which I think is important- to my Comgressman's office and file an inquiry through them. That was March 3rd. The woman at my Comgressman's office told me that they have liaisons (that's also important) that work directly with USCIS in looking into petition statuses. That same night- the woman I spoke with at the Congressman's office emailed me to let me know she had begun the inquiry. Last week I received generic email from my Stare Senaotr basically telling me I wasn't within the "timeline" of being able to inquire and to "try and understand" how slow Texas is. That day was probably the worst day in this process...I felt defeated and hopeless. I posted the letter on VJ as an example of the lies that some government agencies try to peddle. I was told that I had jumped the gun & would regret doing the inquiry so early & that I should just wait it out like everyone else was doing. The comments were so defeating that I took my letter down because I couldn't take one more person telling me that all I can do is wait. Two days later- the woman from the Congressman's office called me (didn't email, called) and told me she had good news. She had gotten in touch with a Supervisor at TSC who had told her that because I was after 5 months I did indeed have a right to an inquiry. She then said that they would have an officer look at our file and would get back to the congressman within 10 days as to the status. Now- I had read a few posts where people had heard this same thing and within days had an approval. But I had no expectations at this point...just hope. Last night we received our approval. I struggled a lot with how I wanted to post this as I know there are many September filers yet to be approved and I in no way wanted to "flash" my approval in anyone's face. I read your stories everyday...I know the pain you all feel. My heart breaks for everyone stuck in this pit of a service center. But in my opinion- and yea I know there are people who just love to put there two cents in all the time...this actually works. If you can get your Congressman (and I say that because my Senator did nothing) to actually speak with a supervisor in Texas I firmly believe you can get help with getting approved. I do not believe that the hold up has to do with background checks or any of the other things I keep hearing. At last 200 days it is my opinion again that it is simply a matter of pulling a file from a cabinet and approving it. If it takes so long for background checks then why are there people at CSc being approved in under 30 days? Think about that. Do I think our background check was extra speedy and that's why we were all of a sudden approved? No. I believe it's because this woman got ahold of a supervisor and got our petition pulled from whatever cabinet it was collecting dust in. Whether or not you agree is fine...this is my way of trying to help those who feel helpless & like there's nothing you can do because there is. I spoke with that woman again today to not only than her but to find out what I could do to continue to be an advocate for those stuck at TSC. I do not want to be someone who gets approved & goes on my way. So regardlrss of anything- I will continue to try to bring to light the issue that is clear as day with the processing discrepencies. If anyone would like help with what to say to your congressman or help in general with filing an inquiry PM me and I woudk be more than happy to help in any way I can. I apologize for the length but I felt this was important to share.

and not to rain on your parade or anything, there is an October filer and a September file that were approved even though they never contacted anyone. How are you so sure that what you did made a difference?

As an October filer that was approved I will say that I contacted my Representative and both Senators before my approval.

what about the people that contacted their Senators and Representatives and weren't approved?

Everyone who gets approved a little earlier than anyone else thinks they've found the magic answer.

I am not saying that it had anything to do with my approval but you had stated that we didn't contact anyone and that was not the case.
