Do you think the quick, random approvals it may have something to do with where the petitioner works? So say if the petitioner works in the US government do you think they would get priority? (i.e., since they already had a background check, they're part of the "system,' etc.)... I wonder what little things have an affect in the random spikes of quick approvals...

If my congressman's office is right, they say that it all comes down to when the background checks come back. Supposedly the paperwork has already been looked at once they send it to the background check portion.

Do they check just the petitioner or both the petitioner and beneficiary?

What constitutes as a background check? They probably just submit your Social Security Number and do a criminal run?

They said they check both. They also said they use various agencies and outside companies, so who knows.

oh man, thats gonna take for ever for my fiance and me then lol

I have been in and out of the US on two J-1s and one extension on a J-1 plus many visits and a few bank accounts (during J-1) and he was born in Japan and has lived on Army bases all over the world, never mind the US... So many places to check, I don´t even want to think about it.

But how long can the background checks really take, if CSC gets their NOA2s out so quickly? I mean, they have got to be using the same contractors and stuff.

No, I don't think it has anything to do with that. I currently work for the fed gov and am still waiting. I think it's just luck of the draw!

I am the beneficiary...NOA1 was September 2nd and NOA2 was March 11th...I was shocked that we got approved since August is still getting worked on.
