It starts to get annoying when people ask about it all the time. Sometimes I sense a hint of doubt in their inquiries, as if they believe the petition is shelved or something has gone horribly wrong

Agree. And it seems like no matter how many times I explain how it works and how long it's going to take, they still ask again 2 weeks later when he's moving. ???

When I tell them how long it's going to take, it's like they don't believe me. The look on their face is always like a blank stare.

God, tell me about, no one, NO ONE (!) over here can believe this process. You probably have to go through it to believe. No one in my circle of friends has ever gone through a process like this and they all think it is easy and quick...well, I guess it would be over here...

I do talk about it very little because I am fed up with explaining the details and the bullshit: "But surely, you can speed it up" comments.

Funny you mention that. I saw Elena during the holidays. I made a point of bringing a copy of the I-129F packet that I submitted. The thought being that she'll need it anyway, and in the off chance we got an NOA2 before April 2014, then she'd already have part of what she needs for the interview.

I tell y'all what, I felt such a sense of relief when we sat down to review the packet together. I felt like I was saying "See? I really DID file the petition. The wait isn't some type of stalling tactic on my part." LOL

Of course that was all in my head. I knew she believed me, but I dunno, it just made me feel better to prove it in black and white. Somehow.

I digress. Funny where this process leads your train of thought...

LOL! TabeaK, did you read any of my previous posts where I commented on the German factor? :-)

Long story short, we've had to explain that the process here cannot be compared to Germany (in particular), because Elena's mother knew a lady who married a German man, he went to the embassy, completed the paperwork and they flew home together. She couldn't understand, initially, why our process wasn't as efficient as the German's. Thought you might get a kick out of that one! LOL

OMG it's funny who we are here talking about this. Bentz and I had this conversion last night because HE had a brother who went through this process shortly after the earthquake that hit Haiti and it took them a total of 5 months from beginning to end so I think some in his family is starting to be a little bit doubtful.

You mean where you respond before the say anything, "We are fine. The relationship is great. The system is broken." Yes,

Agree. And it seems like no matter how many times I explain how it works and how long it's going to take, they still ask again 2 weeks later when he's moving. ???

When I tell them how long it's going to take, it's like they don't believe me. The look on their face is always like a blank stare.

yes and how can you blame anyone for this. It's just inconceivable that it could take so long. I can't count the number of times I've had to explain to my own, very competent parents, that what we are waiting for is basically just permission for me to apply to the US embassy for a visa. This is not the visa. That is still to come.

I do talk about it very little because I am fed up with explaining the details and the bullshit: "But surely, you can speed it up" comments.

Same. I just tell people who aren't part of our close circle that we haven't finalized dates yet.

LOL! TabeaK, did you read any of my previous posts where I commented on the German factor? :-)

This made me chuckle. So true. Out of curiosity I checked on the UK Home Office website to see how long it would have taken if we were moving here instead of to the US. Two to three weeks for a fiance visa. Pay £250 or thereabout and you can have it expedited within 3-5 days. Yes, that's visa in hand. I kept reading because I was hoping to find something awful on there to make us feel better.

So do we!

I think they when the bin is full they just cram the random leftover petitions that came in that week anywhere that fits. It can't be due to extra checks and things like that. Surely? Because they don't even look at our petition until it gets to an adjudicator. It is the most frustrating thing we have ever been through. The good news is that there is nothing we will face in the future that will mess with our heads and kick us in our hearts like this process has!

Wait...we are so much larger than other countries WRT population?!?! BWahahahaha! That's funny. No, actually we are dwarfed by two others and come in a distant third:

I had a big fight with my fiancé... and apparently I haven't been trying to see him :/ Mind you I'm a full time student at UCF graduating in December and I have a part time job. Stupid wait... and us being weak.

I went last year in March and in August. I was trying to save up to go for the interview but God knows how long it will be until that day comes.
