Quick question guys! At what point after the marriage do you need to send in the pictures of the wedding? I was honestly considering flying in, get quickly married and then having the wedding a few months after and then sending the pictures in.. or nah?

Wha-? I don't understand the question. Pictures of the wedding? Wha-? You mean after she arrives in the USA on the fiancé visa? If so, then there are no pictures required, you just file the I-485 to include the work authorization and the advance parole.

If you are suggesting getting married prior to her entry on the fiancé visa, then I'd say hell no, don't do that or else you must cancel your I-129F and file the I-130, which is an even longer wait. And of course you'd be restarting the clock from 0.

Yeah :x I'm counting like a good 9 month wait from the time I got my NOA1. A good 6 months for my NOA2 (hopefully), a month for NVC, and 2 months for the packages and what nots. I really hope this doesn't take TOO long.. because I really don't want to waste a whole year doing nothing.

If the wait at the NVC is only one month, I'll be in high heaven. I'm planning on more, with 2 months being about the minimum I'll expect to see. TBD

Might not help you directly, but bringing the Texas/California processing times to your senator's attention can potentially help the greater good. They will listen.

Yeah I concur, but it's not gonna happen for us. You'd need one quick marriage too; you'd have to get the license and get to a JP in short order, then make a call to your HR office ASAP after that. It'd be tight, but you could probably do it.

Again, unless a miracle happens, which it won't, Elena and I are out of luck. Although the difference in medical technology is considerable between the two respective countries, I'm trying to remember that lots of babies are born in Russia everyday, so we should be ok. That is unless ours is a premie or there are other complications. Then I dunno. I'll be praying like crazy in that scenario. But so far, our son is healthy and all tests have come back normal thus far, to include a special test that can only be conducted in the USA, dontchaknow. Lol ... so we're optimistic for a normal birth, but aren't counting the eggs too fast just yet.

So you're in Houston huh? Singapore Airlines has a direct flight to Moscow out of IAH, so that's what we use when we travel. We'll have to do lunch next time I'm down that way.

Yeah man, I work in Houston. It would be cool to meet up for lunch or something one day. In terms of the birth, I am in the same boat. If everything goes fine then there is nothing to be worried about. It's the complications that could occur which scare me. there have been a few cases where an NOA2 can be had at 5 months, but who knows, could be wishful thinking. 6-7 months is more likely, with an additional 1.5 month delay at the NVC.

The thing is, I know people who know Kevin Brady (a congressman in Texas). He's worked on some of my pervious cases before as well. The only thing that worries me is that if I get in contact with him too early that he'll kind of brush me off as "annoying". I don't want to exasperate my connections just yet. Maybe he would be able to help us all...

You aren't going to him for a favor, you are going to him with a fact. We pay/elect them to hear our grievances. If you have one, let them know. Worst that can happen is that you are ignored.

My fiancé and I are applying to universities because either way we won't be staying in Florida. We're applying to UT Austin, Brighton University in the UK, and Hamburg University in Germany. Technically speaking, more than likely we would find out where we're going before our school starts, I'd just really REALLY like to have to time to get ready before we leave. Best case scenario I get my approval in February, worst case I get my approval in April :x

I'm actually thinking of switching from the Trinidad embassy to the German embassy. I heard getting the packets go by so much faster in Germany.

how do you plan on having your fiance meet the residency requirements if you are studying overseas? I may be biased because I graduated from the school, but I think UT-Austin is the best school out of all the ones you mentioned. Also consider where you want to live and work upon graduation long term.

I'm a dual citizen, so once we get married he automatically is entitled to european residency as long as he's living with me. For the UK, it would be a tad bit harder but my parents said if thats where we wanted to go, they would transfer about 10k in his savings account for us to get this UK residency card (I can freely move over to the UK as a european citizen).

Honestly thought our 1st choice would be UT austin, but realistically if America doesn't work out Germany and the uk would be our plan b & c. :D Plus my parents live in America it would be so much easier on us financially because my parents live a stone throw away from UT austin.

Im the beneficiary btw.

Just received this response from one of my senators. Had a sit down with the other (Assistant to the Senator)

Thank you for contacting me about the discrepancy in processing times for K-1 visas between the Texas Service Center and California Service Center. I appreciate hearing from you about this important issue.
In order to be of assistance to you on this particular issue, I have contacted the appropriate officials at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services urging a careful review of this matter. As soon as I am provided with a response, I will be certain to let you know.
Again, I appreciate hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact me about other issues of concern to you in the future.

Yeah, thanks pfrederiksen. I appreciate the hustle. Although I sent hats copies along with the emails, I have yet to hear anything. And I don't really expect to hear back from senator cruz, although I do receive his email updates/boastings.

If I receive anything I'll post too.
