Visa Delivery

Hey guys,

Just paid for my Visa and home delivery. I assume that if I am not home at the time of delivery they will just take it to the 'pick up' location I selected earlier in the process. Is this right?

If not please could anyone tell me where my visa would go in the event I am not home for the delivery.

Kind regards,

They'll put a card through your door so you can arrange a redelivery, either to the same address or a work address. Or yes, you can go an pick it up from the DX location. I think they'll try to deliver a couple of times but, after that, it'll be returned to the Embassy.

If you do go and pick it up you might want to take their phone number with you as my DX location was in the middle of an industrial estate with the world smallest sign and not listed on the industrial estates map.

They will try to deliver it 3 times before it will be sent to the nearest depot

I'm pretty sure it actually goes straight back to the embassy.

I read that somewhere when I was worried I wouldn't be home when mine was delivered. I found out the day before and had to call off work.

I can't find where I read that though.

This sounds accurate. Government, Court and certain legal documents have a label attached to the envelope instructing that re-delivery is not permitted. It has to return to the source.

Can you choose to have your visa sent to a different address (for example, a family member who is in during the day) or does it have to go to the home address listed?

You can have it delivered anywhere...work, family, neighbor. You pick the delivery location (or pickup) when you make the courier arrangements. The person receiving is supposed to have some form of ID from you, but there are MANY instances where they didn't actually ask for ID.

I recieved an email the day before it was delivered telling me when it would be delivered.

Which was a nightmare, luckily someone was able to cover half my shift at work and the other three hours I was meant to be in, well my work mates persuaded my boss to give me it off, which was lucky because it arrived in those three hours I would have been at work.
