The White House propaganda machine's message would be a lot more effective if they could just get the press to follow only in frog-march lock-step.

So in summary 240 out of 400 nurses surveyed don't feel adequately prepared to deal with Ebola. The sky is falling. Buy more ammo. Thanks Obama!!

You lib guys love your guy in Washington. He lies to you, screws up, considers you so ignorant that you will believe him no matter what. Oddly enough, so many of you do. We are happy to see you follow him. By "We" I mean the rest of us who hold fast to common sense. Keep it up though as it is amusing to watch his followers in action, just as long as the driving instructor has their own brake.

I agree. How hard would it be to check temperature ?

You would make a more convincing spokeperson for the common sense group if you could bring yourself to make an on topic post once in a while.

No because the WHO says so. I like to get my info from practitioners of science and not radical denier websites.

Now.. Please do prattle on

http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs103/en/

"People remain infectious as long as their blood and body fluids, including semen and breast milk, contain the virus. Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness."

That's not exactly the same as the claim you made. First, there is no mantion here as to how long the virus can be transmitted via breast milk. Secondly, the transmission via sperm is noted here as up to 7 weeks which is 5+ weeks short of 3 months.

Now you prattle on!

Your turn to prattle, make a nasty comment, post a face palm, claim you never said that or any of the other usual behaviors you resort to, when proven wrong again and again and again . Liberals.. got to love them

http://virologydownunder.blogspot.com/2014/08/ebola-virus-in-semen-is-real-deal.html

"The United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) Medical Managements of Biological Casualties Handbook (7th edition) notes a 3-month (~80-days) period, during which one should probably avoid sexual relations so as not to deliver virus directly to a mucosal surface.[4]"

http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/179/Supplement_1/S28.full

"since EBO virus RNA was detected by RT-PCR in samples collected up to 91 days after illness onset, further study is warranted. EHF convalescents and their contacts should be followed in a research setting that includes screening of body fluids, especially semen; educating contacts to avoid body fluids, especially semen; and providing latex gloves when contact with body fluids is unavoidable. Furthermore, condoms should be provided for 3 months to prevent potential sexual transmission of EBO."

4) You can get Ebola through sex with an Ebola patient. The virus has been able to live in semen up to 82 days after a patient became symptomatic, which means sexual transmission — even with someone who has survived the disease for months — is possible.

Measuring from the onset of the illness as done above vs. from the recovery as done earlier naturally gives you a longer timeframe. Why, you ask? Well, let it be known that patients - if they recover - usually take several weeks to revover from Ebola once they become symptomatic. Add those several weeks to the 7 that have been quoted earlier and you'd end up with a 2.5 - 3 month period that is mentioned above. Same timeframe just a different starting point. It's very basic math, NB.

Here's the WHO snippet again. Can you see the difference in reference points?

Well since you started this saying it wasn't true at all and that is as close as you have ever come to admitting you are wrong once again, I will call it a victory and move on

Slow down there, sport. You were able to back up 7 weeks from recovery, two and half to three months from onset but not three months or even the 81 days from recovery that you spoke about in that earlier post which I included again below. What you've read about was 81 days from onset not 81 days after recovery. That's a significant difference.

and I read somewhere recently that they have still found the active Virus for up to 81 days in the host after recovery. The crowd here who is saying, nothing to worry about it can't spread in the US are ill informed.

Time to hit the Panic button. Not yet. This is all new. I don't blame the ER for sending him home with those symptoms. It's the 1st case in the US. They see those symptoms 100's of times a month. Now maybe if someone was really on the ball, and understood where he just came from, they might have raised an alarm.

We need to start at least do some basic screening or some travel restrictions for non essential persons. Of course if this thing goes Viral ( pun intended) how do you think they will blame Bush ?

Too bad Dallas is the first to go i was hoping for the illegals to get wiped out first in California.

I'm in Dallas. Things seem to be fine. The Cowboys are even 4-1. We did have some early morning thunderstorms today, which is kind of odd. I wonder if it's related to the Dallas Ebola epidemic?
