On another topic.

We read a lot of junk science on the internet about the FDA is letting us be poisoned, vaccinations etc.

I drink a lot of diet soda back home. I mean a lot.

Here I have not had more than one or two per week, simply because it's not convenient. It's been all water. Most amazing thing. I was having trouble controlling my type 2 Diabetes and my doctor recently had to add another med. Sine I have been here, I have been eating rice, and even some sweets, spaghetti etc but no diet coke.

I have had to stop taking one med and my blood sugar is still at fasting levels 3 hours after eating. It's almost like it's gone in remission.

Could diet sodas really be that bad. I can't think of anything else I am doing different ?

Kathryn shared some great info, that they may cause chronic inflammation. I know one thing. I am a water man only now.

It is my humble opinion that diet sodas are worse for us than regular sodas. And I rarely drink regular sodas. Haven't had a diet one in about 4 years. They make me feel weird/bad after only two.

November 2nd they will know if the virus has been contained.

They moved to family to another place, It a ghetto apartment complex they are living in full of poor immigrants and illegal aliens. They had 4 Dallas police providing 24 hour watch to make sure the family didn't leave the apartment. Couple of kids went to school the first couple of days they were supposed to be self quarantined.

Spent like 65K to send hazmat crew to rip out carpet, throw away beds, etc.

Heard the Ebola guy condition had gotten worse. I hope justice is done dies and no one gets infected....

Well that is essentially what happens. Not that the virus exits the body. Either the patient dies or they fight off the infection and there is no more virus.

What is meant by "no cure" is that there is no specific medicine or anti-viral drug that can be used to cure infection. Treatment is supportive to prevent things like hypovolemic shock and systemic organ failure. Most people who die from Ebola infection die from one of those two things.

Once people get past that stage, they will usually recover, although they will still be infectious for up to 21 days (current guidlines) and virus levels will continue to be detectable for several weeks, after which time most people will have measurable levels of Ebola antibodies, a level of immunity against reinfection, and no dectectable viral load.

That's quite visible here on this board as well with all this ignorant nonsense and paranoia that manifests itself in many of the posts around this topic. But there are also polls that bear out this very ignorance. What we need is not more panic and paranoia. What we need is objective information. And the paranoid, scared right wing blogs deliver none of the latter but all of the former. You eat that right wing nuttery up like a 12 year old little boy - which is not at all surprising. The hospital screwed this up. It's basic triage protocol if someone presents with a fever of unknown origin, you get a travel history and you act on it.

That triage is part of the protocol. The CDC doesn't have representatives hanging out in your local ER waiting for Ebola to show up. If hospital ER's start releasing patients who present with Ebola symptoms and travel history, the CDC is going to have a pretty tough time of it.

and I read somewhere recently that they have still found the active Virus for up to 81 days in the host after recovery. The crowd here who is saying, nothing to worry about it can't spread in the US are ill informed.

Time to hit the Panic button. Not yet. This is all new. I don't blame the ER for sending him home with those symptoms. It's the 1st case in the US. They see those symptoms 100's of times a month. Now maybe if someone was really on the ball, and understood where he just came from, they might have raised an alarm.

We need to start at least do some basic screening or some travel restrictions for non essential persons. Of course if this thing goes Viral ( pun intended) how do you think they will blame Bush ?
