Well done.

On another topic.

We read a lot of junk science on the internet about the FDA is letting us be poisoned, vaccinations etc.

I drink a lot of diet soda back home. I mean a lot.

Here I have not had more than one or two per week, simply because it's not convenient. It's been all water. Most amazing thing. I was having trouble controlling my type 2 Diabetes and my doctor recently had to add another med. Sine I have been here, I have been eating rice, and even some sweets, spaghetti etc but no diet coke.

I have had to stop taking one med and my blood sugar is still at fasting levels 3 hours after eating. It's almost like it's gone in remission.

Could diet sodas really be that bad. I can't think of anything else I am doing different ?

Kathryn shared some great info, that they may cause chronic inflammation. I know one thing. I am a water man only now.

IMO, drinking soda regularly (diet or no) is a bad thing. I typically only drink water, beer, and coffee. The last two are fairly regulated. Although I recently purchased a "bubba" mug and my coffee drinking may be getting out of hand. :(

If you spill a few packets of aspartame on an anthill, the ants will leave. That right there should tell you something.

Ebola patient moved to Dallas to marry mother of his child

Thomas Eric Duncan moved overseas to Dallas to marry the mother of his estranged son, his family has told their church.

Instead, he ended up in an isolation ward as the man who brought Ebola to the United States.

Duncan met Louise Troh in Liberia many years ago, according to the pastor of Troh’s church, Wilshire Baptist in East Dallas.

“They had this child. They had a falling out, and she came to the states,” Wilshire pastor George Mason said Friday.

The son came to the U.S., too, and is now a 19-year-old college student at Angelo State University in San Angelo. Earlier this week, Kasiah Duncan said he had not seen his father since he was 3 years old.

His mother, Troh, joined the church and was baptized this summer. Church officials describe her as the beloved matriarch of an extended family that has been moving to Dallas recently.

Back in Liberia, Duncan had been seeking to join that family.

“The son hasn't really seen his father in many years,” Mason said. “I think ... [Duncan] was seeking reconciliation and hoping they might marry. ... [Troh] was open to that.”

Duncan is believed to have made previous attempts to move, and Troh visited his city, Monrovia, in August, according to her Facebook page.

As fate had it, Duncan didn’t book his ticket until Ebola was ravaging West Africa.

Not long before he flew to Dallas, The New York Times reported, Duncan tried to save a woman dying of Ebola. He helped drive her to the hospital when no ambulance would take her. That’s probably where he caught the deadly virus.

But he never mentioned the incident on a health form at the airport, and he may face criminal charges in Liberia and the United States for lying about his exposure to the virus.

He never told Troh about it either, she has told reporters.

Troh told her story to Mason by phone Thursday from the apartment where Duncan stayed with her and fell ill.

Mason then shared it with his congregation. Wilshire officials say no one from the family has attended church since Duncan arrived, so the congregation is safe from Ebola.

Mason is praying that Troh and Duncan make it through the illness. One day, his church may play host to their wedding.

But for now, no one knows whether Duncan, who remains in serious condition, will survive his illness, and his would-be bride is under quarantine in case she caught it.

“There’s this no man’s land she’s living in right now,” Mason said. “I just assured her that God is with her ... and that we are praying with her. It’s about all we can promise at this point.”

I wonder if he told CBP he was coming here to get married? I doubt it.

Is that really how you think? A person who is suffering from a serious and potentially deadly illness because he helped a dying woman should be put in prison and hopefully executed so you can feel safe in your bed? I don't find your point of view either charitable or in sync with the principals of the USA.

This is how I think and it also seems to be how the Dallas District Attorney is thinking also

I don't agree with your death penalty statement, and I am guessing you meant it tongue in cheek, however the rest of it, you are right on.

Then you should not have posted what you posted originally, as that is NOT what you said. If you read your own article, you will have notices that the Ebola victim in Dallas did not help the pregnant woman knowing she had Ebola and it is quite possible that he did not - and let's note, all known facts agree he contracted the disease while helping someone he saw to be in distress - that's not the action of a selfish ne'er do well is it?

I personally believe it's highly unlikely he will be charged with an aggravated assault charge but if he is, he will not face the death penalty. So, if you want to suggest that it's wrong for someone to knowingly break rules for personal gain, then absolutely, but the penalty for breaking those rules should be commensurate with that, not just some thoughtless overreaction to a situation because you are angry for some reason.

In a pattern often seen here in Monrovia, the Liberian capital, the family of the woman, Marthalene Williams, 19, took her by taxi to a hospital with Mr. Duncan’s help on Sept. 15 after failing to get an ambulance, said her parents, Emmanuel and Amie Williams. She was convulsing and seven months pregnant, they said.

Turned away from a hospital for lack of space in its Ebola treatment ward, the family said it took Ms. Williams back home in the evening, and that she died hours later, around 3 a.m.

Mr. Duncan, who was a family friend and also a tenant in a house owned by the Williams family, rode in the taxi in the front passenger seat while Ms. Williams, her father and her brother, Sonny Boy, shared the back seat, her parents said. Mr. Duncan then helped carry Ms. Williams, who was no longer able to walk, back to the family home that evening, neighbors said.

“He was holding her by the legs, the pa was holding her arms and Sonny Boy was holding her back,” said Arren Seyou, 31, who witnessed the scene and occupies the room next to Mr. Duncan’s.

Sonny Boy, 21, also started getting sick about a week ago, his family said, around the same time that Mr. Duncan first started showing symptoms.

In a sign of how furiously the disease can spread, an ambulance had come to their house on Wednesday to pick up Sonny Boy. Another ambulance picked up a woman and her daughter from the same area, and a team of body collectors came to retrieve the body of yet another woman — all four appeared to have been infected in a chain reaction started by Marthalene Williams.

A few minutes after the ambulance left, the parents got a call telling them that Sonny Boy had died on the way to the hospital.

Fear mongers. As if there aren't any other things to be concerned about, people have to invent them.

Therapy would be a good choice at this point.
