Letter of intent to marry

i know lots of people asked about it already. But I can't find the previous thread.

My fiancé didn't sign the intent to marry letter that he has sent me. What should I do?

Have them send a signed version. Both letters MUST have original signatures.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

USEM has not asked for a Letter of Intent in years. If you feel you want it have your fiance complete a new one that is SIGNED and send it to you. Other wise forget about it and go do your interview.

I heard this is one of the requirements in CFO here in the philippines

CFO has never asked for a Letter of Intent. What is most commonly asked for at CFO is listed in the guide in the link below.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you sign it for him using his signature? As far as I know, as long as he knows about it and he approves of it, it will be okay. But still, I'm not sure. :)

Not needed for CFO. It is also not needed at your interview at USEM.

My wife went to CFO about a month before her interview and she never had a signed letter of intent from me.

I would suggest to listen to Hank's advice.

I don't really think people from the CFO would even require a letter of intent. You will just be attending a counselling program, a discussion of your rights and what to do if you are a victim of domestic violence.

Depending on your age, parental consent or parental advice may be asked by a CFO counselor. Sending documents in a matter of few days is totally expensive.

So I don't need a signed letter of intent to marry?? Well if that's the case, that's good for me. No need to worry about it. :)

Same here. Interviewer (and CFO) didn't ask me for it. But if we're talking about peace of mind, do it right the first time. Have him send the letter with ink signature. Nothing beats going into that interview knowing you are ready for anything.

If it isn't needed, then I don't want to push it. Since most of you said it's not important..

A copy of the visa in the passport is a requirement to receive the STICKER. It is not a requirement for attending the guidance and counseling session to receive your certificate.

After you have your visa in hand, go back to CFO with your certificate and passport, and they will put the sticker in your passport.

You think scanning it isn't a good idea?

This is what we did way back 2011. My fiance made a letter of intent to marry and signed it using pen with blue ink. He then scanned and sent it to me which I later on printed it in colored ink.

I heard this is one of the requirements in CFO here in the philippines

We never needed to show the LOI to either the CO at USEM or CFO. We did submit it with our original I-129F petition, and we had updated ones for the interview but they were never needed.

However, it is better to be safe than sorry as the CO can always ask to see it.

USEM rarely asks to see the LOI, even though they state you need to have one. However, for documents, like that, if they request, they will want (and probably keep) the originals. The CO wouldn't accept copies of any of the documents they requested, we had to give them originals, including the CENOMAR, BC, and NBI clearance, none of which were returned.

So if they do end up asking for the LOI, you are gambling if only produce a copy instead of the original. While a color printout of a color scan may look to be almost original, it lacks the impressions of the pen used when signing the document and the CO can tell it is a color copy....

I agree. maybe 99% of people that were interviewed didn't get asked to show a LOI but you don't want to be that 1% and not have anything to show...besides its on the checklist for interview...check link below item h.
