Considering how much NVC is dragging its feet with your case, you're doing a great job maintaining your composure so far.

While you're waiting for your impending cc this week, how about throwing a log on the campfire and regaling us with the good old days during your first visa journey? I've heard wild stories that once upon a time NVC was actually meeting its contractual commitments in processing cases from start to finish in under two weeks!!! :wow:

Or just scare the pants off of the uninitiated VJ newbies with what's coming their way... 'Tis the season to be scary...

Well Moh you asked for a scary story:

Once upon a time in August 2000, seven months pregnant with our second child, my husband who at that time was on expat status here in Australia was offered a new position within his Company back in Houston. After much deliberation we decided to bite the bullet and head back to the good old U S of A. But wait - I didn't have a Visa. The Embassy was in Sydney and we lived in Brisbane. Better get our skates on we thought otherwise it would be too late for me to fly and we would have another little Aussie. The lawyers flew into action, paperwork was completed, photos taken and the I-130 application submitted to Sydney. The wait had begun. Four weeks later we were summoned to Sydney for our interview, had a beautiful lunch at the Opera House, bumped into the Head of the Olympic Committee - little did we know that 15 years later our little boy would potentially be Olympic bound - and nervously made our way to the Embassy. I think it took under five minutes to be approved and on 20th September we boarded the flight, me looking like a whale, complete with a toddler, stroller, car seat, mobile cot and goodness knows what else and flew into LAX. Then the fun began. Four hours of waiting to be processed, our son was WAY over it by this time and so was my husband. Still, life carried on. Eight weeks later my beautiful little girl was born in The Woodlands, Texas. That journey to the hospital at 4.00 in the morning was more hairy than the Visa Journey. Now we have done it all again and this journey is a story already told by so many of us.

We have learned a lot this time around. Family is so important and being together must never be taken for granted. We are far more humble now and I don't think I have ever seen my husband so patient. What can we do. We have no control where NVC is concerned. I just pray that the journey is almost over for us all.

Still, I often sit and reflect how it has gone from six weeks to 15 months, in my case, to get a little stamp in my passport and have my family together.

Sending much love to everyone.

Upside - I have made some wonderful new friends along the way and we are bound by a common thread. I know I will keep in touch with some and hopefully we can welcome those new friends into our home sometime in the future.

Xx

From 6 to 60 weeks... a factor of 10 in 14 years. That's 19% annualized increase per annum. If only my investments could match this rate!!!!

Thanks for sharing dear. Keeps things in perspective.

I'm amazed that being 7-months pregnant and having a toddler in tow didn't push you to the front of the queue and accelerate your processing! No wonder your hubby was riled.

Hello all, what does it mean when you try to pay aos fee and you receive a message that your case is in the process of being terminated? I received my case number on Friday. I completed the ds261 form today, but when i tried to pay the system wont let me.

Please read the first page of this thread carefully and all links, it will save you a lot of time and heartache. Termination is part of the process, today or tomorrow you will be able to pay or in a few days after you receive the AOS invoice from NVC.

Hello can anyone help me please?!

I've submitted all of my documents to NVC on Aug 14

Last week I got a letter from NVC saying my joint sponsor missed a question on the AOS

The next day we submitted the new AOS

Does anyone have an idea on how long NVC will take to continuing processing my documents? I really hope I don't have to wait 60 days again!

Has anyone went through the same situation?

I was able to pay my IV fee today! :) It finally unlocked!

Yaay! I've been MIA lately on this thread...just got our package sent today (10/21) - I'll post my delay in a new message so others can perhaps benefit (or the few that are in my neck of the woods...) But congrats, we will probably have almost the same scan date together so let's see what happens...praying for both of us!!

Yes i stapled AOS form and also stapled individual returns.

.i did not use staple in IV packet

FYI I saw somewhere that it is better to just paperclip? I know you already sent it but it's just for the fact that the reps will have to 'unstaple' and that takes more time away from them.

11/29/2014 - POE in Seattle

*On 08/01/14 I received a checklist via email and responded right away. Over a month later, on 09/09/14, I received the hard-copy in the mail. Upon reading the hard-copy, I found that NVC made a mistake and emailed me the wrong checklist. I contacted a supervisor at NVC and she instructed me to write a letter of explanation to accompany my "real" checklist response. She also told me this may not help me and that we may be back in line. Lord help us!

Wait, what? You don't pay this at the interview?

You pay this fee online after your interview when you'll get your A Number. check the link in my previous post

Quote from USCIS website:

"

If you are immigrating to the United States and will be admitted as a lawful permanent resident, you must pay a $165 USCIS Immigrant Fee. You must pay this fee online using the USCIS Electronic Immigration System (USCIS ELIS).

We strongly encourage you to pay this fee after you receive your immigrant visa packet from the U.S. embassy or consulate abroad (including Canada and Mexico) and before you depart for the United States. Paying before you depart for the United States will ensure that you receive your Permanent Resident Card (commonly referred to as a Green Card) without delay.

However, you can also pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee after you immigrate to the United States. We will send your Green Card to you after you pay the fee.

How to Pay the Fee

To pay the $165 fee in USCIS ELIS, you will need an online account. Once you have created your account, you can pay the fee by logging into USCIS ELIS and selecting USCIS Immigrant Fee from the drop-down menu. You will need your Alien Registration Number (A-Number) and U.S. Department of State (DOS) Case ID to pay the fee. See Tips on Finding Your A-Number and DOS Case ID for more information.
