Yes you can pay now. I had paid mine right away and then filled the ds-260 online, signed and submitted. I dont see why you shld wait. Can anyone else help answer this? Doesbt hurt to have a second opinion :D

I've been waiting for my IV bill for a while now and you can't fill out the DS-260 until 2-3 days after you pay the IV bill. So how were you able to do that?

I think i saw one 8/22 CC

This was all the way in April. But, from what I remember, our lawyer had me pay both fees and then we were able to access the ds-260. My lawyer had said that the process is quicker when you have a lawyer...

My lawyer had said that the process is quicker when you have a lawyer...

They would say that, now wouldn't they? :-)

Our lawyers have been absolutely useless (to put it mildly). They said I needed to get my english translations notarized (of police certificate etc).

I refused to spend more money and waste more time (even though company's paying) and the NVC accepted everything just fine.

The lawyers said I needed a military certificate, NVC lists it as 'F' on my P4 letter (NVC did not request).

The lawyers couldn't get through to the NVC to ask about my interview date. I did. (Instead, they were sending useless emails to NVC to expedite the case, even as my case had already left NVC, based on the tracking info I have now.)

They made tons of typos on the DS-260 (the bullet list is 3 pages) even though I had given them all the data and all they needed to do was copy/paste.

etc etc (it took them two weeks of whatever it was they were doing to submit my I-140 to the USCIS even though they already had all the info for weeks)

I'm soooooooo tired of dealing with them.

Long story short: shop around before you lawyer up!

Submitted AOS packet on 8/8 and rep confirmed that they will not review until November 17 or so....60 days past when they scanned in my IV documents. I had the IV packet ready to go sooner, but purposely waited to send until the IV fee actually unlocked. Apparently following the rules (at the time) was a big mistake and I should have mailed in everything at once because now getting a checklist will be all the more devastating if it happens. Just gotta pray I did it right and this won't cost me.

Based on what others have posted about the new process, I knew that's what they would tell me when I called this morning... but hearing it still stings.

I am, however, thrilled to see all the new approvals. Lets hope this new mailing process will actually cut back on their review times.

Ok so i need some ideas/help.

one of my friends ( a very close and special one), she got through her NVC phase about two weeks ago (with a case complete) and just have a date for interview in late november. She just found out her husband (a USC and the one who filed for AOS and made good money), lost his job yesterday (was laid off). he is looking for a new job and they are really stressed. What can they do under this predicament? Their case is already through NVC and an interview appointment date is set…..can they just go ahead with it or is their case lost? Any ideas…can they get a joint sponsor (her husband's brother) at this stage???

ANY ideas would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Anyone understand the process for an approved expedite?

My DS260 has been completed and submitted. Am I waiting to hear from NVC or should I be looking for communications from Montreal? As usual, NVC rep was completely clueless!

Trust, but verify!

Even if he could find a job before the interview, being that he'd only be working there a few weeks, I'd say go with a joint sponsor regardless. Get all the paperwork done from the joint sponsor, and then have the petitioner re-do an I-864 for themselves as well (updating the employment section and current income). Then they just need to explain what happened at the document intake window and hand over all the new paperwork.

Well, for most expedites, once it's approved, NVC closes the case and sends it to the embassy/consulate. Do you know if NVC has sent it already? If they have, I'd contact Montreal, explain what happened, provide your case number and such, and ask them what you need to do now and if an interview date has been assigned.

The rep didn't seem to have a clue and didn't know my case was even expedited.... I think I'll get hold of Montreal. Thanks Saylin! Enjoy your Northern turkey-day!

Either try calling again and speak with another operator, or just contact Montreal. Might be a few days before you hear back from them though, haha.

And thank you!! Can't wait to celebrate my birthday and Thanksgiving this week in Canada! Just a couple more hours then I'm done with work, and then my flight later this afternoon :D

Ok thanks Saylin, i will get them the information. really appreciated.

Once they get a new joint sponsor…..does this mean that the paperwork goes back to NVC or does it mean that the consulate will deal with it.

Nope, the file should stay at the consulate and they'll review the new paperwork there. I would think they'd be able to review it right then and there, but I'm not entirely sure. If anything, they'd just be put into AP while they review the new paperwork.
