How do people know this so called "scan date"?

You call NVC and ask them when your mail was scanned in their system or when days does the arrival of your package shows. That is then considered your scan date.

So they received mine yesterday and I called today and the lady said they received it and will have it in their system any moment now. She also said that by tomorrow or Monday, my IV bill should be available to pay since my DS-261 was pushed through already 2 days ago. Does it mean my scan date was today then?

UPDATEs:

  • DS260 completed. Confirmation page email and saved to PDF for future printing.
  • AOS/IV Package to be sent 10.3.2014 morning VA time.

QUESTIONs:

  • Are we to receive anything from NVC to confirm they receive the package or do we need to call?
  • When should we expect advise from NVC that they received the package if they will notify us?

Thanks to All!

They probably won't notify you, they haven't done so in the past...not sure now. They do send out random 60 days email notifications every now and then. You would have to call and seek answers about your dates with them.

Alright, sat down and updated the spreadsheets!

I'll probably wait until right before my trip to Canada next Wednesday before I update again as I will (hopefully) be busy the next few days with things. And hopefully within a few weeks, once my personal life has settled, I'll be able to go back to regularly (re: daily) updating the spreadsheet

Thank you, I got a checklist for AOS however it did not impact that much as my IV was invoiced on aug 7, for a ds 261 of june 6. As Austin would put it, the IV delays then helped with any AOS checklists. Also it looks like NVC is processing AOS and IV together even when they are rec'd on different dates from aug 1 dates. Seems like they are using the latter of rec'd dates. In my case thats what I noticed.

Hi what was your checklist for ? Can you please tell us.

Hello,

I did not get any answer so reposting.

We have a joint sponsor who filed taxes jointly with his wife. Our joint sponsor is filing I864. Should his wife fill up I864A?

As they both filed jointly the total income amount will be same in both forms, right?

About the total income question in the i864 forms, someone said to use line 22 for 1040.

Our joint sponsor have form 1040. But I am confused about this line 22. Under INCOME part of the IRS transcript the last entry is total income per computer.. Should I put that amount in both of my forms? The total income will be same in both i864 and i864 a, right?

Another doubt;

In part 6 question 5 current individual income for joint sponsor will be : only his income excluding the income of his wife?

Part 6a will have his wife's name and the current income will be of his wife's current income ?

Is there any need to provide proof of current income for both of them?

If his wife files i864A, then is there any need to submit the w2 forms?

Hi VJ'ers

Did you submit the Original police certificate or a photocopy?

My confusion comes because on the wiki it states original, but on the travel.state website it says photocopy.

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Original + a photocopy

NVC site says : Please allow 15 days for the NVC to process your DS-261 before continuing to the next step and 60 days for documents

It says this on the CEAC website the 2-4wks info as per below.. so I hope its moving faster and we bypass the 60days.. one can remain hopeful right?? haha

Once received, it will take the NVC 2 to 4 weeks to review your case. If any additional information is required after the review, the NVC will notify the applicant (or the applicant’s agent).

I am hopeful

Unfortunately, at least while I've been at NVC since June, it's always been saying "2 to 4 weeks" on CEAC website, when in reality it went from 30 business days to 60 calendar days. But I truly hope that they will get back down to 2-4 weeks for everyone, as it's been in the past from what I hear.
