Hi Saylin,

Thanks for your reply. We did read the information on the NVC’s website and the documents were obtain from the "Censo" office in Oranjestad Aruba, which is “Census” office, and the only office so far in Aruba to get such documents. The documents bear their stamp that reads “Burgerlijke Stand” which means “Civil Registry.” So again we are still unclear, why at all we received a checklist for such documents or what it is NVC could possibly want.

As it states on NVC's website, birth certificates in Aruba need to be obtained from the Census Bureau: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/AA.html#docs

Everyone should be checking the reciprocity page before sending in documents. I often see checklists because people aren't sending in the correct certificates.

Hmm, if you got it from the right place, then you might want to call up NVC and ask to speak with a supervisor. You may also want to call up the place you got the certificates from and ask them about it as well.

Yes, we called the census office here in Aruba and they did indeed confirm, they are the correct office. As for calling NVC and speaking with a supervisor, I've made 2 attempts & both times I was denied, with an excuse. The ridiculous hold time would be to expensive right now and something I will need to attempted again once I am stateside, so I guess, we do what we all do during this process, WAIT. Thanks for your reply and the advice.

Try calling at different times then, maybe you'll get more lenient operators.

And if you know what you're doing, no one has to pay a cent when calling NVC ;) Look into Google Voice ;)

hey everyone

howlong nvc can hold your case? cause my grandfather dosen't have birth certificate so i sent no record certificate from village where he born with all notirized and everything and 2 close relative affidavit that know him but they didnt accept it. so i put it for supervisor review and they told me it will take 42 days to review.

if they dont accept that than i have to submit new one and that certificate i have to take it from goverment office and will take 3 month to get it and then i can send it to nvc.

so are they gone hold my case until than? or everything will expired?

After 30 days of DS-260 submission.. Received a checklist for civil documents (actually they misplaced)... at that time I did ask them for DS-260... and the rep said its look fine (can't trust them) .. that means they already reviewed it...

You have one year from the last contact before they'd close a case, and theoretically, you can extend your case for another year by simply contacting them again. So, three months is more than fine.
