It was already approved and paid for when the preznit cancelled it. Don't you read the papers?

Do you? Apparently not. What was approved and financed - not "paid for" seeing that the US has always run a deficit - was a pilot program worth $1 billion that brought about an "electronic fence" on 53 miles of border between AZ and Mexico. 53 miles - $1 billion. There are some 2,000 miles of border so you do the math. And all of that says nothing about the sorry state that that particular pilot was in for as long as it went on. The GAO has come down hard on this project on about a dozen occasions.

So, try and read the papers every now and then. You might just stand a chance of making informed contributions to a discussion once.

I can't think of a bigger waste of tax dollars than a 53 mile piece of electric fence on a 2,000 mile border. Talk about white elephants.

but that would electrocute some of the abandoned waifs, what better solution could you ask for? their corpses can even rot on their own side!

Careful, the virus is in Texas.

There's some informed hypotheses as to how some contagions are entering the country:

Dr. Jane Orient, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, reported that the government has been “real tight-lipped” about the mysterious respiratory illness that has struck children in the United States, expressed concern that the illegal immigrant minors from Central America could be the source, and argued that the government should devote more resources to border security to combat the spread of disease

When y'all say "think of the children", obviously you don't mean ours. <_<

Interesting: the CDC changed their "Ebola Prevention" page on Sept. 19th. Here's what was excised:

Because we still do not know exactly how people are infected with Ebola, few primary prevention measures have been established and no vaccine exists.

When cases of the disease do appear, risk of transmission is increased within healthcare settings. Therefore, healthcare workers must be able to recognize a case of Ebola and be ready to use practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions or barrier nursing techniques. They should also have the capability to request diagnostic tests or prepare samples for shipping and testing elsewhere.

I thought science was supposed to be above this kind of flim-flammery. <_<

What about $1 Trillion USA for shovel-ready jobs?

You do know that investing in infrastructure is a sound economic measure? You do also know that stimulating the economy via infrastructure programs is not new and was not 'invented' by Obama? You do know that most economists agree that the stimulus packages were essentially successful? I guess because you posted this, you don't know that.

I know that I know not one single soul whose community benefited from that money. I imagine it went the same direction as the recession bailout money.

So, you're a big fan of the stimulus, eh?

A 'fan' of the stimulus? That's an odd word to choose, but yes, I am sure that had the US not taken that course of action it would still be in recession. However you are free to laugh about that thought all you like. No skin off my nose if you don't read anything but partisan propaganda ;)
