You will get a 1 yr extension letter after filing. You can use that letter and expired GC to travel. You will be fine if you stay out of the country under a year.

If your extension letter is expired, you can also do info pass and get a stamp in your passport

AOS from F-1(Married to USC
06.08.12 - AOS mailed
09.18.12 - Interview.....Approved!!

ROC- Divorce Waiver
05/09/14- I-751 packet mailed to CSC
05/12/14- NOA1 Receipt date
07/01/14- Biometrics Appt

08/11/14- RFE received

09/08/14- RFE response received by USCIS

09/22/14- 10yrs GC Approved!!

Hi Newbie608,

Thank you very much for your reply. To give you more details, I'm planning to travel for about 5-6 months overseas early next year, then come back in the middle of the year and apply for I-751. Once I'm done with Biometrics for I-751, I'm planning to travel overseas again for 6 months to 1 year. Since I will travel for a while, I wonder if I need to apply for I-131, and if I can apply for I-131 as soon as I receive NOA and get approved.
