Well, we got a checklist yesterday for our AOS package and for something that doesn't make sense. My joint sponsor put in her savings amount even though she earns enough and they are asking for proof of her savings or ours (which again, doesn't make sense as we need a joint sponsor).

I found out while at the grocery store, had a huge panic attack and i've no idea how i drove home for an hour without crashing. My daughter overheard me on the phone to her dad about it and started crying. I feel so stupid. I should have deleted the extra info knowing they'd be idiots. How can you checklist someone for something that is optional?! My husband is trying to get through to them on the phone today and he is talking with the senator who is on our case. I just hope more than anything that they will allow me to bring the "optional" evidence to the Embassy, because I cannot wait until Feb/March

They also said to wait 60 "BUSINESS" days for the checklist to be reviewed.

I'm sorry to hear that but I don't think it's 60 business days as I got two checklists and waited for about 60 calendar days! Best of luck and may they hurry up

Sorry to hear about the checklist! I remember at least two others also receiving a checklist on optional information (savings). :crying:

I guess it's better not to include any optional information since the more info you put, the more mistakes NVC may find. :dead:

but they only asked for one document - the divorce certificate from his first marriage. Since I prepared the binder, and we only briefly went over the contents (thinking that I would be with him to help him find stuff) he couldn't find it. They asked him to come back today with the document and gave him a form 221g. We went back this morning, they took the divorce certificate and told him to hang onto the 221g, our case is in AP, and they will contact him for a second interview in about 1 to 4 weeks. Not exactly the result we were hoping for.

Sorry to hear that you got 221g. I hope he gets his second interview soon.

Didn't you send his original divorce certificate in the IV package? :huh2: If so, they should have it in the file, correct?

Just called NVC and got my wife's interview date. December 1 @ 6:15am. That early! lol we haven't received the email for our case completion though

6:15AM!? :wow: What time does the embassy open its door? :huh2: 4:00AM?:rofl::rofl:

You might want to double check to see if it's not 6:15PM (not AM).:rofl::rofl:

I heard many people got too nervous to sleep the night before the interview so they ended up showing up at 5AM!:rofl:

My interview is 9:30AM. No, I didn't call to double check if it's a typo and they meant 9:30PM.:rofl::rofl:

I'll still need to drink at least 2 cups of coffee before my interview since I'm not a morning person!:rofl::rofl:

Didn't you send his original divorce certificate in the IV package? :huh2: If so, they should have it in the file, correct?

Yeah, we already sent the original. I think they're doing all this because 1. few people get divorced in my husband's country. It's more common to just get another wife if you're tired of the first one lol. and 2. even fewer people actually have their divorce recorded on paper. So I already knew that they would probably want to look into that document. I just thought maybe they would do that before the interview. But I should have known... Dakar is slow at everything... they even tried to call my husband and push his interview out to November 13th, no reason given. I emailed them to get it changed back to this week, but now I have the whole picture. I think they're behind in processing everything and just need time to catch up and get to my husband's case.

They also said to wait 60 "BUSINESS" days for the checklist to be reviewed.

Oh sweet heart I'm so very sorry, my heart is breaking for you and your family. I just don't understand these people and the whole process it's inhuman!

I hope and pray your Senator can help so you can take the stupid paper work to the Embassy. And please for God's sake don't read anything from NVC when not at home. t23126.gif

Hi everybody. I know it's been a long time, but I just wanted to let everybody know what's going on.

I really wish there were more people on this website that had been to the Dakar embassy for their interview. There was one review on the country forum that said they didn't let the US citizen spouse in the embassy, but I thought it must have been a fluke. But I guess it's just a new policy. The security people outside were extremely rude and I had an overall terrible experience. My husband said that once inside the embassy everybody was really nice. I would really like to know if we can rely on their 1-4 week timeline for AP... I'm just so tired of people asking me when my husband will be coming to the US and all I can say is "I have no idea."

I know that the Cairo Embassy since I can remember doesn't let the spouse in they say there isn't enough room for everyone. Sounds like you have your Visa just checking on the divorce certificate so I'm sure they will call you in the time they stated, I'll be praying on my side sweetness that this will soon be over for good. Thank you so much for coming back an letting us know what is going on. (L)

Dear Soleanta, Romii and evryone

https://www.google.com/search?q=Thank+you&biw=1366&bih=657&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=VS5SVIj1G8ueNtyIhNgG&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

You are beyond words amazing! When I first got started Soelenta on the thread, your name was evrywhere and I was like who is that, but now I see why! You are encourage others though you are going through your own trials, your advised others though you are seeking your own answers and above all, you do it out of a sincere heart and when you need to get real, you get real. I even me and you went at it over someone cussing on the thread, which I still think I am right - no cussing should be on the thread but that is beside the point, at many stages during this process, I HONESTLY felt like I was going to crack but your words of wisdom and encouragement did wonder. I am finish with the process and now working two jobs (both which pay horrible) but together they make a living until June next year, God willing when I start teaching full time in order to finish my PHD.... CEAC has been changed to issued and I will be heading back to see my parents in law before hubby comes here ...so I will not be on here much, but I will be checking on you guys every now and then!!!!

YOU ALL - ROMIII, AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO HELP ME WHOSE PROFILE NAME I DONT REMEMBER - THANK YOU!!!

Awww Godalone thank you so much for your beautiful and heartfelt words I'm humbled by them. I'm also thrilled beyond words that you are done with this madness and can now living your life in peace and love. Must be such a joy to have your life back in your own hands. It has been an honor being with you through the going at it and hahahaa hard times and frustration of this process. Sweet heart your not in the USA yet? Sorry a bit confused thought you only had 6 months or so to go to the USA or you start the process all over again. OMG what a nightmare that would be. :(

Please take care two jobs can take it's toll on a body, just don't know how you can do it.

God be with you and your loved ones on the rest of your journey through life. God bless you!

AGAIN, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CONGRATULATIONS SO VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. Love you girl!

Thanks, Romii. It is insane. I thought we might get check listed for something stupid but not on something that is optional. My husband just told me he spoke with a supervisor last night (he was expecting a call back but they put him straight through, thankfully). He said the supervisor seemed to agree with him but then he said to put what is wrong in an email, so now we're confused. My husband wants to call back later and speak to someone else because he doesn't understand the need for an email. Is the email normal procedure with a supervisor?

I've never heard of it but sounds good to me, but would wait and see what others have to say since they might count it as mail just the same. OMG such idiots in so many ways. (L)

6 pounds in two weeks! :wow: good job!! That's very impressive. Soon enough, you'll be attending events with your significant other, it just needs to wait a tadddd bit more. ;)

Do you mind sharing your secret diet with me? I've gained about 20 pounds too since my wedding

My job is no help, since I have an office job I sit throughout the whole day and it has caused even more of a weight gain.

Yes please me to gained about that much and would love to know your secret. watching-my-weight-smiley-emoticon.gifthud-faint-smiley-emoticon.gif

I have not heard of this so called email procedure so far. I would suggest to not email yet, because they count emails as documents to be reviewed and put them in the 60 day wait period. Why don't you call the NVC director that soloenta had posted the number for, maybe calling him would do some good. She just posted it a few pages back.
