November 2014 Interviews

While we are waiting for the interviews to be scheduled, I have a question for the interview at the Embassy.

I am U.S. Citizen sponsoring my husband but we both live in Europe.

According to the VISA guidance that Sylin has kindly provided, people who live outside U.S. needs to provide proof of US domicile. When I sent the AOS package, I did not include any letter to explain my situation for "domicile", although all my U.S. bank account statements that I provided in the AOS package, have my U.S. address on them. Our AOS was approved without providing the cover letter to explain how I re-establish domicile in the U.S.

For the interview in the near future (I believe!) at the embassy, do I still need to prepare a letter to explain that I am taking some steps to re-establish my domicile?

I would. Especially if you've been out of the US for some time, you need to be able to show the officer the concrete steps (lease/documentation of living arrangements, job offer letter, voter's registration, etc.) that support your claim that you will be re-establishing domicile.

I did include such a letter in my AOS package since my situation is similar to yours, but I plan to bring more evidence with me to the interview.

Maybe we'll cross paths at the embassy! :)

I wish I could talk to Supervisor Gus and find out what is really happening. New processes and improvements.? Is there a delay for some reason. I mean EVERY embassy on the planet. REALLY??

I am not even waiting and I am getting upset and have a headache now. Ughhh!

Come on we need some joy up in here. Yes of course you can rant and cry and scream. Then we are going to party like its 1999.

Anyone going to POE through Houston. I want to meet you. I can be the official greeter. :goofy:

dwheels76, I was just checking your spreadsheet and I see my row highlighted, why is that? Also, when do you think they will announce the interviews? Will my CC email have the interview date?

Wasn't directed at you...sorry if I made you feel that way.

Thanks sweetie.

Jumping in the pool here to say hello.

CC Sept.30, and appalled at those of you with cc dates of sept 10 and no interview.

Anyway, it would be wonderful if there were a flood of actions on scheduling interviews. I, too, got the party line that it's up to the embassy, which seems like a sort of "cover their ###" response :)

Congratulations dear. Thank God you are almost thru with the process.

Congratulations. No you have to wait to pick up Visa you need that number to be able to pay.

Thanks a lot dwheels!! What number is it? They already mentioned her Alien Registration Number on that yellow paper. Is there any other number that is needed to pay $165? Can you explain me more about it? I appreciate your help from the beginning to the end in VJ.

Stackeria...! Hope your flight went well. Sorry we had no good news for you when you landed. Any chance you are (or anyone else is) planning to phone NVC today?

I know we are all feeling defeated and all thinking we aren't going to bother phoning again until someone else posts good news...but if all of us give up then we really will all just be waiting for our own emails. I guess that's what the NVC wants us to do. My theory? They are no longer giving interview dates over the phone. I have absolutely no evidence to support this theory other than none of us have interview dates yet!!

22 days since case complete.

My flight was full of children running up and down the aisles and crying babies... and still I enjoyed those 8 hours more than calling the NVC!

If I call it won't be before 5pm eastern.

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

Congratulations new approvals/those who have gotten visa issued!

Awww thank you so much, I would like to know who I can talk to high than the supervisors there. I'm done with this BS I want out of NVC.

Sweetie they kept your passport so it should be from 7 to 10 days until you get your Visa, I'll be praying for you just in case my friend cheer up. :)(L) (L)

I know, I don't doubt I will eventually get the visa, I'm just worried I won't be able to travel with husband on Monday. Still in AP. Thank you for your prayers dear (L)

Consulate sent husband this message "We are in process and will let you know asap – pick up tomorrow." I hope this means I will get my passport back tomorrow? Or how should I decipher it?

IR1 took 520 days....

Hi TM713,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I agree. I think it is better prepared enough than regretting later.

Since we don't know exactly where we are going to settle down in the U.S. yet (dépends on our jobs), we don't have any lease contract or anything like that.

What I am thinking about bringing at the interviews are;

-U.S. bank account statements with my U.S. address

-Voter's registration (I have just received the absentee balloting material for the November election so I will make photocopies)

-A letter with my US address from my US credit card that shows how long I have my US credit card for.

-US IRA account statement with my US address

-US investment account statement with my US address

-Estimate from a shipping company for the costs to ship belongings

-Estimate for selling price of our house from a real estate company (as we are planning on selling our house in France once we are ready to move to the U.S.)

-Emails from some companies that I had interviews with. (although I have not got a job yet but I believe that I can say that I am seriously looking)

Yup, we both got our CCs at almost the same timing, we may cross each other at the embassy. Good luck to you, too :)

I just don't understand why a US national/citizen would have to have proof of anything to return home, sorry just doesn't seem right to me. Even if you return to live under a bridge it's your country!
