ah i see, i actually was thinking.. so when applicants go to the interview first they go through a secretary who checks if all the documents are there and no missing stuff and also in my case i will hand the medical envelop and the marriage book. and then she forwards the whole folder to the CO to interview the applicant?? does this make sense??

or according to another cinareo: the CO reviews the documents beforehand and then at the day of interview, that CO who reviewed the case before, does the interview??

hmm , we asked our lawyer about this she said she is nt sure both cases are possible.. :)

she keeps telling me my case is fine and all i need to be calm and be polite with the interviewer :)

I have same question too. The CO on my country's forum said they go thru the case file before the beneficiary show up and most times they would have made up their mind but either positive or negative, the beneficiary still need to convince the CO at the time of interview. But my question is same as the above quote. Is it the same CO that reviews the case file that will also conduct the interview. I wish we know how its been done.

My interview was today and my visa approved. My ceac already says issued but how do I track it with DHL ?

Congratulations. That's awesome.

DHL isn't for Visa tracking you need to go to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/and track your Visa status.

The DHL we post here is tracking the petitions/casefiles to embassy only.

question:

nvc status says ready, so my file has arrived the embassy. and my interview is in 3 weeks!

does this mean that the consular officer will check my documents before the interview?? or the documents stay in the envelop untill i go to the interview and then the CO checks them??

i feel like they should be reviewing the documents beforehand. but im nt sure..

does anybody know??

Funny someone just asked me this on Facebook. Yes they are reviewing now. The casefile is assigned to the CO that will interview you when it arrives. This is where they get those great questions to ask you. Now your casefile is going through checks and reviews and background checking and investigation and whatever else the CO needs or wants to come to a decision,.

Honestly the decision is already made. Very seldom does your interview hedge on a approval or denial. They know. Now they ask and yes I have known of people who saw the approval sheet on top their file with their name on and they still got denied (they totally blew the interview).

So yes this is why we tell many to frontload in tough embassies because now someone is pouring over all you have to offer and rendering a decision.

They review your documents before your interview and already decide about your case. The interview is a mere formality. The CO is prepared for the interview. Even we should go over all that is sent to answer correctly. A straightforward case doesn't require that many questions, some "complicated" cases require further probing by the CO.

AMEN! Sorry I repeated you. I am 4 pages behind.

I know this has been discussed ad nauseam but I've realised a mistake on the ds-260. I moved house in the 90s in 96 and not 95 like I put on the application. Is it ok just to tell the CO at interview or is it a case of sending an email before hand. I literally only remembered the other night when remembering the anniversary of a friend.

Tell it at the interview or just leave it alone its just an address change no big deal.

I have same question too. But my question is same as the above quote. Is it the same CO that reviews the case file that will also conduct the interview. I wish we know how its been done.

It would be the same CO. Remember its an interview. A CO is pouring over your evidence deciding seeing if they need more info. Do they need to look up your facebook, emails, do they need to send investigators to your home. It's just like a job interview a manager is looking at your resume (your Petition and evidence). This is why you may see updates now and then because the CO makes notes. This is so if they were to get sick or absent someone could take up your case and continue.

Doesn't really matter really who is interviewing you. Long as they reviewed your case. This is why front-loading especially for Lagos is so key and why taking evidence to interview in many cases is futile. Oh have it in-case you need it but I know many who did nothing didn't prep and thought they could take a stack of everything to interview (K1's do this alot) and were denied CO wouldn't even look.

Now an alert to Lagos goers lately the CO's have been asking almost everyone for phone records of the petitioner so I would have that from start to finish so you don;t get AP delay.

That really defines why they make a decision in less than 2 minutes. The decision has already been made even before the interview.

We actually frontloaded at both stages. And will definitely go with 1year phone records. Thanks for the heads up Dwheels.
