I still haven't heard that from anyone but you. & I highly doubt he told the girlie men to shoot an American soldier, if he was there.

You need to read the regional papers yo - they have all the neat details.

Sogar ein Vorgesetzter des Soldaten war mittlerweile in der Klinik eingetroffen. - means: Even a superior of the soldier had since arrived at the hospital.

And no, he didn't tell the German cops anything - simply because he has no authority to do so.

Why didn't they taze him? That would have been more appropriate.

I have yet to see a cop with a taser in Germany. There may be some out there but it's not like here where every cop on the beat has one. They typically do not need any such thing. The use of firearms by police is extremely rare in Germany - in recent years, there were less than 50 shots fired by police a year. That's across the entire country of 80+ million. If and when a firearm is used by police, it is mostly non-fatal as was the case here.

IMO, tazing is more appropriate in some cases, especially those that are not life threatening.

There's a good chance that police has inadvertently killed more people with tasers here than were killed by police with firearms in Germany. Again, they don't shoot to kill there. They try not to shoot at all - it is the truly last resort. The situation with that out-of-control soldier in the hospital's emergency department was most definitely life threatening.

girlie men. smh..

Those seem to make up much of the police force in this country if the use of a firearm in self-defense is the measure that's applied to come up with that label. Nowhere in the developed world do cops resort more to the use of their firearm than here in the US. Thus among our peer nations, we must have the most girlie men in police force.

No, Germany just doesn't have all those trouble making minorities like we do here. Especially blacks. I'm turning on the Marvin signal, let's see how fast he arrives.

oh i agree. it is infuriating to hear how 'dangerous it is to be a cop' when there are many more dangerous jobs to be had and none of them provide leathal weapons and license to use them upon feeling 'threatened'.

I got this weird tingling in the base of my skull...
