There has been some family and friends who have cut me out of their life.... even a few I had to cut out. I have been told awful things by some. Those who loved me have stood by my side and are willing to give my spouse a chance and embrace my marriage. It is very hurtful for me that I was made to choose my husband or certain people in my life (which i was actually told to choose in one conversation)... but I have and will always choose my husband. I stand by my choice and accept the ramifications. Any time yo open yourself to love another there is potential to be hurt no matter age, color, nationality, social/economic status, ect.... so I think its best to live your own life and if you love someone not "ideal" to others let them decide to accept or they can leave. The dynamics of different families varies, so in the end you have to just be yourself and your love will prove itself.

I think everyone experiences this in some form, some more extreme than others. With my family it's not that my fiancée is a fraud because we've been together in person for most of our relationship and they have spent a lot of time with her... it's more that the marriage is less of a marriage because it's for immigration purposes (even though we've been engaged way before we thought of doing K1!). Oh well haters are going to hate, if you love your fiancé/spouse and you're getting the visa so you can spend the rest of your lives together happily married then that's all that matters (L) let people think what they want.

It definetly happens to all of us. But follow your heart and do what is right for you. I will never regret my decision and I am so much better for it. Best of luck and stay patient in your journey.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words.

I agree. I read many unfavorable stories and have heard so many untrue myths and warnings about Jamaican men. My fiancé treats me better than any other man I've ever been with! He's loving caring kind and patient. No one has ever made me feel so loved and special. We both have realized that the average person will not be able to understand our 1,500 mile LDR and everything that goes into this visa process. So we don't say much to others. They'll see one day. In the meantime don't let the negativity get u down. Follow ur heart!

When a woman marry a Jamaican man who is good he is a real keeper

most don't even believe in splitting bills...they pay the bills ! with

no reservations & can be loyal, but the good suffers for a few bad apples

My hubby does the same thing! We talk at least 4 times a day. How much could change between those conversation?! LOL We DEFINITELY are blessed with our Jamaican men!! I wouldn't trade him for anything in this world. He is my soulmate! I laugh that I had to go so far to find him. I can't wait until he get here. He already has a job and his paperwork hasn't even been approved yet! I get so anxious everyday checking the staus on the USCIS site. Patience is definitely not a virtue of mine!!

I agree with Lioness. I try not to discuss the process with anyone. The upside is that I don't subject myself to the disbelief and negative rantings of others. Let's face it, no one can walk in someone else's shoes. So they'll never be able to see anything truly from my point of view unless they've been there. The downside is that I feel more isolated than ever. That's why I'm so glad to have the support of the VJ community!
