Hey guys

So I'm now finally in new york. Poe took 10 minutes literally they didn't even give me a warning date to be married by. I want to get my ssn now I've read on here you need an i94 or something like that what else do I need and is there a fee involved.

Thanks in advance guys

This (in the VJ guides) lays it out. Skip down to the K1 section of the page http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

Get the I-94 online and print https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

Application form http://www.socialsecurity.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf

Note #5: tick "legal alien allowed to work". (Yes, that is correct, but it doesn't mean you can start work without EAD)

Beware SS offices screw up K1s all the time. Ask for a supervisor if anybody says a k1 is not allowed a SSN.

It free there is no fee involve, just make sure you go with I 94 and your international passport, however, try to wait for 10 working days from the day of POE.

Make sure to go there no later than day 71. After day 71 you no longer qualify for the early SS# and will now have to wait for your green card to get one.

Bring your I-94, your passport, and your birth certificate (which they will hand back to you but they want to see it).
