I was reading the end of this post and got upset to find out that USCIS agent does not seem to know information about our case... but that is okay but what hurts the most is telling different stories. We sent back our RFE documents on Oct 31st and ever since then no update on USCIS website, it still says "RFE was mailed" and no changing to "RFE received". My fiance called USCIS just few days to ask if they have received our documents and was told yes they did. I hope they are telling the truth. I'm scared now. Been waiting and waiting for the good news someday soon. T_T

I hope you hear something soon. I'm not sure what's worse ... not knowing anything or hearing a different story about our case every time we call.

Lol! My kind of people, :) Have a safe trip and wonderful time, bfulton71!

People should buy shares in Total Wine and craft beer, just based on the amount of time I spend in Spokane Valley.

Bandi - the funny part about thatangela and myself is that we are both from Atlantic Canada to begin with! So 11:00 am Pacific time is never too early for us to start drinking!

By the way, if this is your first time driving this route:

  • Watch out for moose just south of Yahk
  • There's a guy with a rusted-out De Soto or something in his driveway about 10 minutes south of the border; he usually lights it up for Christmas
  • I've never seen a cop from the border to about Athol so you should feel comfortable doing 65 or 70 (I know how Calgarians like to drive)
  • People in Northern Idaho drive really slow so be prepared to pass on a single-lane highway
  • Big trucks with black grills and gun racks have a tendency to tailgate
  • Bonners Ferry downtown is a great place to stop for a coffee (or on the way back, there's a neat shop on the strip to pick up gooey huckleberry treats)
  • The I-90 is fun ... except for the stretch through the Valley and Spokane proper where it's 60, it's 70 mph all the way

Six and a half weeks out from NOA2 and like the ones that have been dealing with this for months, surprise but your case isn't at NVC. Having no hope or expectation of case being at NVC only lessens the disappointment a little.

My fiancé will need to wait 4 months for an interview because of the backlog at his consulate. If we could all have our approved petitions reach where it's supposed to go instead of some warehouse.

At least the stress may help in weight loss. I'm looking for any positives I can find. Since one really can't believe what USCIS tells you or emails you.

Thank you for your comments!

Moose seem to show up around me constantly ( maybe it's because I am from New Brunswick ). Just last week driving from Medicine Hat to Brooks where there is not even one tree or any water and here is this moose walking along the prairie beside the road! Strange place to see one.

I will set the cruise control on and sit back and enjoy the ride! I will definitely need coffee as I tend to drive until I get where I am going without too much stopping.

It'll be a fun trip as I have never been in Idaho - another State off my list to visit! Only Alaska is left!

Now we all need our case numbers from the NVC! They will come!

As expected, USCIS answered my service request the last possible day (today). And of course I won't have the pleasure of reading USCIS' BS response until 2015 because I have to wait to get it in the mail even though this is 2014 and there are numerous methods to communicate securely beyond snail mail. Thanks to rory though, I already know what it will say:

We have received your request and will expedite it to NVC. Please give ___ days/weeks/months/years for arrival at NVC. Of course we're saying this just to give you a false sense of hope. In reality, we have no clue what's going on or where your case is. Your petition is no longer in the jurisdiction of CSC, so please submit all further inquiries to NVC and stop bothering us!

I suppose I will call NVC one final time this afternoon before my flight just for amusement's sake.

NVC's system is currently down. The dude I talked to said, "Well we're available for the next 7 hours, you can call back later if you want." Ha, yeah right. I'm not going to devote 80 minutes of my day to confirm bad news. That being said, I've talked to that dude probably half a dozen times. To his credit, he's always friendly and wanting to help. He never gave me that 35 day BS and was the one who told me right before I hit the month mark to e-mail nvcresearch@state.gov.

45 minutes on hold with NVC and still nothing.

We're extending my Christmas visit by a week so I'm leaving for Spokane next Saturday. I'm about ready to crack and I'm pretty sure I can't handle much more of this without him by my side. The still-single part of my brain is fighting that and calling me pathetic. :)

Good for you that you are going earlier! Are you driving or flying? It's always better when we are with our loved one! Enjoy your Christmas together. Time has a way of healing things.

Thanks, B.

I'll be driving. Five-and-a-half hours is a nice light cruise for me.
