Hi everyone!

While I have been using VJ as reference for quite some time now, I have never had to post anything myself. The time has finally come to ask for your assistance!

I married my husband about a week ago, and have a question about the form i-864. Please see below for my current situation:

- My husband currently makes no money, and is, therefore, ineligible to be my sole sponsor;

- My employer has agreed to becoming the joint sponsor; his income easily meets the poverty guidelines.

My question is in regards to the i-864 of the joint sponsor (employer). I read somewhere that the sponsor needs to make enough money to cover not only me, but also my spouse. In this case, he would have to make enough money to cover 1. Me; 2. Himself; 3. His household; and 4. My spouse. I do, however, not see where he would mention my spouse in part 5. He would put me (1), himself (1), and his dependent child (1), which would add up to 3. I am confused; does my spouse need to be part of this equation, or is his status/presence simply implied?

Also, as my employer is self-employed, what documents does he need to provide?

Could someone please clarify this for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

hi

incorrect, it's not your spouse, it's his spouse or family if he has one, he has to make enough to cover himself, his household plus you the beneficiary

your husband would file his i864 and fill out income as $0 and a letter stating why doesn't he make any income and file taxes and then the joint sponsor will file his own i864
