I applied SSN card on Sep. 8th. I still have no news about SSN card till now.

I know it says on the letter that processing SSN card might take up to 4 weeks.

It has not been 4 weeks yet, however, just frustrating to wait.

I check my mail box 3 times a day, some days even more than that !

Finger crossed ! Hope I'll get SSN card soon!

I say go back to SSA office, inquire,

as

if no problems, the # is available next day at the office.

and if you go back and get the # - yay !

otherwise - when you go back, you learn of other problems - which is useful also.

Did they give you a letter with a reference number on it?I was worried about my ssn so I called the number and was told it was on its way.3 business days later,I got the card.In phoenix ssa,they no longer printout the ssn (starting august 1st).

Yes, They did. I had a letter from them, and it does have a reference number on it.

Did you call the local office or 800 number?

I called the local office.He checked the reference # and told me it was shipped on a thursday.Mailed from Maryland.Once they told you it was mailed,they can no longer track it.He told me if I dont get it two weeks from that thursday,they have to send a replacement Luckily,mine came the week after.

You can go in and they can give you your number in lieu of the card. I did with my son because it was the final day for taxes and I got the number on a stamped letterhead. Anyway, you should have gotten it by now. They wont tell you much on the phone, you need to go in.

Worked for me.This happened to me barely a month ago.That is what the reference # is for.But maybe,only some cities do it right.LOL Phoenix SSA gave me info on where my card was.Worth calling them,only would waste a couple of minutes than waiting for 2 hours to be served at the office.

Go to SS office and make sure you are in the system.,.,.,.,..,"""WITH YOUR MAIDEN NAME, THAT YOUR I-94 SHOWS"".,.,,.,.,not your married or to be married name.,.,,we made that mistake.,,..and it took 5 trips to SS office to ge the paperwork right,..,.,.,as applying with "married" name.,.,.your married name is not in the system of the I-94.,.,.,.,only the name your brought to this country.,.,.,.,..,

Get the card, get married, take marriage license to SS office, and change name on SS card!

Just go to the SS Office, they are able to print you a paper with the SSN, as they were able to give me one for my daughter when I was applying for her passport.

I called local SSA office. A officer told me that Homeland Security Department initiated verify process, I would get my card within 2 weeks.

And after August 1st, They do not sign for the new number before HSD verification, so I only can wait now.

Anyway it's nice to know that I'm on the way to get my SS Card. Just hope it could be faster!
