My husband, the beneficiary, does not have an original, long birth certificate. And his father didn't actually declare his birth until he was 18 years old. We were able to obtain a certified copy of the late birth declaration but I'm worried this won't be enough. Anyone have any advice? Is there some other document I should add?

I cant say for sure. But we also had a birth certificate issue. Send a letter along with it explaining everything. Have his father write a letter as well. I can't imagine that there could be much more done than that. That's what we did. We haven't gotten case complete yet though so we could still get a checklist.

Hi,

I am not sure if you still need an answer on this but my brother in law had a similar issue with his late birth certificate registration. We ended up doing a DNA test but the alternative options that immigration had recommended were baptism documents, school records showing parents name, statement from friends and family stating proof of their knowledge of the relationship and photos of the two together.
