In America you are allowed to go by a nick-name that isn't real. If you're name is William but you want to be called Bill, that's not a problem. All your legal stuff would be under William, but everyone other than your mother calls you Bill. It sounds complicated because of her situation, but it's just a name. Use her legal name that's on her IDs and passport. As far as using the chat logs as evidence, that's fine. She doesn't have to have her friends call her by her legal name. You both can just explain that her name is Lily but she likes to be called Anna. Best of luck!

I agree with you. But I'm still leaning towards a cheap consultation with an attorney for a peace of mind.

The reason being, for the next 5 months or so of silence from the USCIS they will be wondering if they made the right decision.

Darnell named one in the post above, I suggest they at least speak with them and get real legal advice. If only to sleep peaceful at night while waiting to hear from the USCIS.

I say use name on BC and that book they use there

then add the other name as alias on US forms, the US gov knows

about pet names/alias, also continue with official name on IDs

to eliminate further probs in the US.I just wonder down the line

can they petition the parents....just a thought

Ok, so we are going with her fake name which is used on all her official stuff and we will just list the other name as an alias. However her fake name doesn't have a birth certificate. (Each name has a hukou book.)

Uhhhhh does she have to show them a copy of her birth certificate or will her hukou book and or passport due ??? As the petitioner they don't even require my birth certificate as long as I supply one of the following other two options, "a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back)" (K-1 Visa guild).

Which is it !?

3. status of single/married/divorce statement

hukuo book never presented to the IV Unit in Guangzhou. It's needed for the 3 documents listed.

Well, we have already been in this process for over a year. We started with a K-1 visa before that, but the wait times were ridiculous. Really, if I had to do it all over again, I would have an attorney for sure.
