CSC, don’t you know how to mail a letter?

I want to know what is fricking wrong with the CSC! Can't they mail letters? Don’t they have a pick up box on site? They wait WEEKS to mail NOA2s to the NVC, for heaven’s sake! :ranting:

I got an email on the 16th saying I had an RFE, and that a letter had been posted. Where is that letter? It is the 24th already, and I’ve been sweating it out every day, waiting to check the post (our mail comes only at 5 PM!), but nothing has come. I want to know why they just can't tell us the RFE via email! I could have had the thing sent in already, but I am only left to an ocean of frustration.

Ok that felt good. I'm done for now. :dead:

on the 16th saying I had an RFE, and that a letter had been posted

In CSC-speak, this really means:

"On Jan. 16 we were reviewing at your file and realized we needed more information from you. We are going to print an RFE letter for you. Then it will go to another place to be put in an envelope. Then it will move to the location of the postage meter to wait for someone to apply postage. Then it will go in a box to be sent to the outgoing mailroom. Then it will go to a mailbox. Then a mailman will pick it up and it will be sent to you via the US postal system"

When they sent the RFEs for IMBRA, they gave one date i.e. Jan. 16, and the letters were not postmarked until about 2 weeks later. It's normal, try to relax.

Yah I was afraid it was something like that... (brilliantly detailed composition, I must say!). Only one week but it seems like a week of eternity, as other NOA2's come pouring in...

I looked at your timeline and felt ashamed at my moaning! You guys certainly went through a lot, for soooo long! Did you have the interview on Nov 11th? (Or did the overstay waiver on the 9th Nov delay it?)

I feel your pain ELW, today i had to testify in front of a jury and in front of a courtroom full of people. Usually--even after 8 years-- I get nervous on the stand. Today I found myself thinking "i can't wait to get home and check my email, the reguler mail, VJ, etc." I had to ask the defense attorney to repeat one of the questions because of this :clock:

There were 10,000 I-129Fs affected by the IMBRA fiasco - some had it much worse than us. Actually had their interviews cancelled and their previously approved petitions returned to the service center. For about 3 months, there was no information provided. Petitions that normally took 90 days took 180. It was not fun.

Our interview was November 8 and the waiver filed on November 9. If we're lucky, it might be approved before September. (Current wait times are 10 months plus another 7 weeks for pick up). By the time we get married, people who filed after us will already have their first child! What can we do? I'm just happy waivers exist!

4-6 weeks from CSC to the NVC is not unusual especially with the holidays. Just keep emailing/calling the NVC every week.

that, and the snow storms in Colorado and ice storms in the midwest have played havoc with the mail delivery times as well.

Whatever. A letter could go to India via snail mail and an answer could come back before CSC (which is only a few hours drive from my house) gets the post to me. How ridiculous.

But again, we gotta refer to kitkat1’s reply. Though my idea of American efficiency (which I bragged to everyone in India about) is pretty much shattered now.

Awww, sorry to hear about your situation. This whole visa process is very stressful and frustrating. Hope you get something from them soon so you can move forward and send in what is requested.

Can you share what your RFE is for when you find out? I'm worried about getting one too.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the nice thoughts. The support really helps :thumbs:

You can be sure that the moment I get the RFE, you'll hear about it! I'd love to help others not to make the same mistake. I wish that I found VJ before I mailed in my I129F, though.

At the moment, I'm thinking the RFE could either be proof of meeting within 2 years (I was living in India and sent copies of all my passport pages with exit stamp from Chennai, but NOT copies of return ticket to USA - which I have) or maybe fiancé’s birth certificate? I've heard several others were requested for that.
