I got an email on 8/26 about an RFE. On 9/2 the letter arrived in the mail that explained they needed a letter of intent to marry from my fiance in Jamaica. We sent that off on 9/9. I got an email last night that the USCIS did receive it. In the email, it said that I should hear about a decision or an update within 60 days of them receiving it. Because of the fact that it was only the letter of intent to marry, will it actually take that long? We sent it in pretty quickly. It's being processed in the Texas Service Center.

If you listen to them, it takes USCIS 60 days to tie their shoes; it's just a canned message. In reality most people get the good news in 2 weeks or less since the RFE file is put on the side waiting for a response to get finished faster. Good luck! :goofy:

Unfortunately there's no way anyone can give you a timeline. The government works at their own pace, and like the other guy said. It takes them 60 days to tie their shoes. Seriously! Wait until you get to the embassy stage. That is the most frustrating part of the process. We had our interview 8/8, got temporary refusal because they didn't give him enough time to get his medical packet before giving him an interview. They got his medical packet 15 Aug and we're still waiting for the issuance of the visa. Nobody will tell you anything, not even what's taking so long.
