Hi,

My AOS papers showed delivered today to NVC, is there anyway to expedite the process of them reviewing it ???? because Iraq is not very safe right now as you may already know.

and also, my husband name is spelled wrong (like one letter difference) on his iraqi passport and Were filling out the DS 260 and it says to fill excatly as the passport or travel document so what should we do,....his name could go with either letters still correct but its different than the NVC documents I have been submitting by only one letter...will cause a problem? shoud i fill out the 260 like other forms or like his passport.

Thanks for your help

You can request an expedite at the NVC stage by emailing them at NVCExpedite@state.gov

You can request that your case be expedited due to your husband's life being in danger or whatever the reason is. They will forward your email to the embassy you are going through and it is up to the embassy to grant your expedite or they might require more information from you and ect.

Now about your husband having the wrong spelling on his passport? You should get that fixed. What is the spelling on his birth certificate? You will have to submit his documents later on and this could be a problem. So I suggest that you guys try to fix the spelling error and keep the spelling the same as it should be and what is on his documents like birth certificate, marriage certificate, police record ect.

Hope that helps.

you can request that NVC request that the IV Unit in the Embassy/Consulate abroad expedite the visa application process,

but

no, that doesn't get you at speed at NVC, at all. You are seeking speed at NVC, a reduction in the waiting time in the current queue that you are in. Not gonna happen. [to the best of my knowledge]

An NVC-Expedite, instead, gets the casefile sent over to the IV Unit overseas, time stops, processing stops, at NVC and picks up with the IV Unit.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Salaam alaikum,

There is no way to expedite the NVC reviewing the paperwork or information sent in. You can request a case expedite - which is where your entire case moves to the Consulate and you provide all the documentation that you would to NVC at your interview date.

The reason for an expedite must be extremely compelling specifically the following are listed on the USCIS website and also apply to the NVC:

  • Severe financial loss to company or individual
  • Extreme emergent situation
  • Humanitarian situation
  • Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States
  • Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

Use the following outline to request a case expedite -

Subject Line of Email: Case Number : XXXXXXXXXXXX Expedite Request, PI Supervisor

Case Number:

Invoice ID Number:

Beneficiary ID Number:

Principal Applicant:

Date of Birth (DOB):

Email Address:

Phone:

Petitioner:

Date of Birth (DOB):

Email address:

Phone:

I, ( Insert Name of Person Requesting the Expedite) am formally requesting that my (insert relationship ex. husband, fiance etc) (insert full legal name) case is expedited.

State the main reason for your expedite request clearly in the first sentence here.

Then follow up with your reasoning to support your expedite request in the following paragraphs.

Attach any evidence or documentation to the email.

Send email to : NVCexpedite@state.gov

InshaAllah this information is helpful.

For mefical reasons, I applied for an expedite and got my I-130 approved in a month. Here it is 10 months later, and my case is still not complete, thanks to the NVC and all their requests. Recently, they asked for original documents which they now no longer need. Patience is a virtue.
