My husband arrived in the US a week ago with a spousal visa. He is waiting on his SSN and green card. We were advised to wait three weeks for both before applying for a SSN at the SSN office. My questions are below:

Can my husband apply for jobs using his temporary green card stamp 1-551 from the POE?

If a job would like to hire him doesn't he still need a bank account to be hired?

Other than studying for his driver license exam, is there anything else he can be doing in the meantime?

How long does it take to get the SSN and green card? Which one comes first??

Thank you very much

1) he can try but most require an SSN

2) of course not. He can get a check vs direct deposit

3) look for jobs?

4) did you pay the Immigrant fee?
