There was an issue with the visa processing systems about a month or two ago - the entire system was down for a few days. It affected all the visa processing worldwide.,. From what I know they are still trying to catch up, which is why some are seeing a slowdown. :(

This explains it a bit.. I'm sure there are better articles floating around but it's been a long day at work!

So to answer my original question, the way you know that your file was shipped to NVC is by looking at your USCIS case status on the same page as before: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/ProcTimes/SubTypes.do

I did this morning, and it said it was shipped! :)

Now to call NVC and bother them for my case number....

I also got an email that said it was shipped on the 23rd! I don't know why they kept our files for a week there, which slows down everything, but I'm glad now I know it is shipped! Do you have any idea on how lond it takes for it to arrive to NVC?

Looks like they sent both our files in the same batch!

I called NVC yesterday, not knowing TSC had posted it, and after a 30 min wait, the guy said it takes 5 weeks for the case number to be generated. Obviously, he was pulling that number out of his script, which is the worst case scenario, not average. I expect NVC will generate our case numbers within a week or so. I'll keep calling them Friday onwards. Please let me know if you have any luck/ better information / further updates on your case.

I definitely will and I'll be looking forward to getting an update from you! I hope the shipping won't take more than a few days, and hopefully NVC won't take so long to give us the number. But at least I'm glad things are moving faster now!

Why cant't the NVC just send out an email when they generate our case number!? It can be entirely automated and the computer will send the email all on its own, when they check our file in. I heard the letter that they send out with the case number is notorious for being delivered late.

Yet again, there's just no effort at process improvement!

So we were approved on Sept 15th and I called NVC today it was busy for about 10 rings then I waited 30 minutes then dialed back. It answered on the first try but was on hold for 34 mins The lady asked me for my notice date because she didn't see file then told me to call back next week because it could take around 20 days for them to receive file. I said ok and I asked her about how long will it stay there. To my surprise she said there's no definite time frame. Since they are the processing center for the Embassy it depends on what you are filing and where it's going. She said some files take a week or a month or could even take a year. I asked her why a year?? She said it depends on the file. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a week!???

I don't think I've seen a single K-1 timeline where a file sat at NVC for a month or more. I think she was just covering herself.

On the other hand, I think her 20 day estimate to receive it from USCIS sounds about right.

I've checked many timelines on VisaJourney to figure out how long it takes for the shipment to NVC, and it's usually about 7-10 days. But maybe in some cases more. :/

Yes, I am one of the "fortunate" people still waiting for NVC to get it. 19 days and counting- woo hoo.

:( I know how it feels. I haven't called NVC yet, I will try calling on Wednesday. I'm not getting my hopes too high.

Have you received shipment notification from USCIS? If yes, when?

PS: I just saw that you were transfered to CSC. CSC takes longer to send the files to NVC. A month wait is usually about right :(

Unfortunately CSC doesn't send shipment notifications like TSC does (at least that's what others have said on here).

I've heard that NVC expedited K1 cases, so at least things will go fast at NVC! Hopefully this long journey will end, I hope you will hear good news soon! :)
