I-90 replacement due to USCIS error - is Biometrics appointment required?

I recently removed the conditions on my 2 year green card but when I recently my 10 year green card in the mail it had an incorrect country of birth. I promptly filed an I-90 and included the incorrect green card and support. I didn't have to pay any fees to file.

Today I received a notice for a biometrics appointment. Is this usual? I only just had my biometrics taken just over 6 months ago for the removal of conditions. Given that it was an error by USCIS, I thought that they would just correct the error and process my new card, I don't see the need to take more time off work to retake my picture and fingerprints if nothing is wrong. Has anyone else had experience with this?

Thanks

My card had incorrect name and I filed I-90 with a fee waiver because USCIS told me it was error on my side when my uncle filed I-130's. I had sent my application sometime in May of 2014. I was requested biometrics on Jun 12, 2014. I made info pass appointment because it was taking so long and the IO told me just apply for N-400 and we will change your name there.

Hi Ben & Katie,

So did you have to go for another biometrics? The same situation here...

Yes they will require new biometrics. I filed i90 last May 2014 and I entered the US Dec 2013. They even made me do it twice (different codes). Check my signature.

Good luck!
