did you get the interview yet? i filed on april 2015. my husband and i plan to visit home in Vietnam for a while , so i just want to make sure that i can go oversea for a while

No, I still haven't received my interview letter yet...on the 18 this month will be 10 months since i filed. Dallas Office is really disappointing..it makes no sense whatsoever to keep people waiting for such a long time..

Question about our interview!

My husband and I have our interview in 1 week and we are gathering our documents. I am the petitioner and he is the applicant. When first filed, we filled out our I-864, but had to use my mom as a co-sponsor since I had only started working that same month and did not have the pay stubs or tax returns to prove financial stability.

I now see on the interview notice that we need to have all original documents of things that we submitted with our case. Does this mean I need to have original documents of my mom's tax returns, pay stubs, proof of citizenship etc. or are photocopies fine? She lives out of state and I am worried about getting these things.

On a side note, I now have the tax returns and pay stubs to prove my own financial stability, so I technically don't need her co-sponsorship anymore. I'm not sure if it's too late to exclude her or not.

Newbie, I think this a typical interview letter, as long as you have submitted the original then you don't need to have another copies. If they didn't have it, they would send you RFE.

It says on the interview letter to bring the originals of everything you submitted during the initial filing.

I had my AOS interview today with my wife in Dallas Texas. They asked us simple questions which we all answered.

The IO then handed me with a piece of paper saying my interview is held for further review.. The letter said I should wait at least 120 days before I can inquire about my case.. Should I be worried??

Hey justasking 123, would you mind sharing us about your interview like what did they ask you? did you give them any evidence? how long did it last? or were you two separated?

Well, usually they gonna approve you within one day. That's what I know from my friends experience.

Had a very successful interview today! We arrived 20 minutes early, but the line was LONG to go through security. I think it's because they were having a huge group of people take the oath. So if you have an interview Tues/Thurs morning, come early! We finally got to the waiting room five minutes after our scheduled time, but since everyone was jammed in the lines, it was fine.

We were called back almost immediately and it was a super easy process! The guy that interviewed us made jokes to make us feel more comfortable and asked us how our morning was going. We made small talk while he went through all our paperwork. He only asked us for our birth certificates, my husbands first document used to enter the country (his I-94), and our drivers licenses. Then he asked if we had any new photos since filing. We had printed out a stack of photos from the last year (first year being married) and he actually looked at every one of them. Some were in California, which is where I'm from, and he asked which beach the picture was at and things like that. So bring plenty of pictures with friends and family or on vacation!!!

He asked for a copy of our lease since we moved since applying. Then he asked my husband a bunch of standard questions about if he's committed a crime, etc. and that was it! No intrusive personal questions at all like we had expected.

He didn't even want our certified marriage certificate (which was $50...) or any other evidence at all. I didn't give him half the things I printed. He said to just wait for our green card to come!

We filed Nov. 19, 2014, so it took us almost one entire year. So sit tight if you filed this year, but it will come!

Biggest pieces of advice: arrive early and bring a variety of photos!
