The thing is you won't find many British people who aren't aware of that or have a rose tinted view of it.

The US on the other hand, noone is prepared to admit to mistakes carried out by the people they voted for.

I have seen lots of comments about Obama and his mistakes.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Which one?

I was firmly for the first war with the Hittites

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

No disrespect to you but I'm quite surprised by that. It was so obvious from the get-go that the whole WMD angle was fabricated.

It was back when I was young and dumb. I believed then (and now) that sadam was a mass murderer. The WMD stuff never bothered me, it's not like they could make an intercontinental ballistic missile.

I hoped the right people would be in the right places after a toppling the country would finally have a chance at freedom. Everyone in the world should have choices on what they want to be and believe, regardless of where they are born. It's sad that yet another generation of Iraqis will not have those freedoms.

He was, but there are many mass murdering regimes out there that the US does not sweep in and overthrow. The point was that many people pointed out at the time that removing Hussein would create a power vacuum that would have to be filled and was as likely to be filled by forces that were anti-American and at least as bad as the current regime if not worse than by some pro-democracy, freedom fighters. The US and its allies dismissed that probability in favor of some gung ho idea that the people would be so grateful for their deliverance that everything in the garden would be rosy. That was plain reckless.

Yes, its fairly obvious now. But I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't on board back then.

Sadly all too obvious and of course we do not know what would have happened had the invasion not occurred. What needs to be done now is target the real problems, not just castigate people for belonging to the muslim religion. Hopefully that will occur and from multilateral sources.

Meanwhile, I wonder if Scotland now regrets its decision? ;)
