I am a US Citizen and I'm in the process of applying for an IR1 visa for my wife, an Australian Citizen. My wife and I both live and work in Australia. We are on good incomes here, and have been able to save over the past few years around $80k+. I've only begun to review the I-184 paperwork.

Because we would both be leaving our jobs in Australia, it looks like we have to report $0 income?

Would our savings be sufficient to meet requirements, or would we need to look at having a co-sponsor?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a job lined up in the US?

If not you could use your savings as an asset and qualify that way...

I am applying for a few jobs right now. But it's kind of hard to do as the Visa timeline is not fixed. I worked in the US in commercial and federal government sectors for a number of years before moving to Australia. So I'm hoping that finding work after moving back won't be too much of a drama.
