Of course. I think I am not wrong in saying that the scientists who contribute to the website you objected to as a source do not have an ulterior motive beyond disseminating information that they as scientists have confirmed to be reliable. That is a bit different from a source where non scientists try to debunk 'climate science' based on rumor and speculation. You may say, it's biased because they have a self interest in what they are disseminating to be true - but I would ask, what proof is there of that and how much sense does that make? The only hypothosis I have seen is that it's a ruse to get money from 'the government'. That's a niave and strange thing to believe. Scientist do rely on outside funding for research of course but they don't get money to research into something they know to be false and go live it up in the Bahamas instead. If a hypothesis proves to be untrue or unprovable scientists move on. However, if there is an explanation out there as to why scientists would put forward phoney information on climate to make money, I'm all ears, that really would be quite some gig and mean that all these scientists are not really scientists but scam artists. Could be true, let's see some proof.

The only thing I objected to was the initial claim that out of 13,950 peer reviewed articles, that only 24 reject global warming. The same author that made that claim, went on at a later date and made an even more far-fetched claim that out of 10,885 peer reviewed articles, only 2 reject man made global warming. IDK if James Powell has a reason to put forth such outlandish numbers, but my argument is that you can't get 10,883 out of 10.885 people to agree that the sun rises in the East, hence the reason for my calling bull$hit on his claim.

That ought to tell you something.

Yeah, it tells me there are way too many people in this world that are obsessed with singling out one country, that does alot more good than harm.

I prefer to be a little more optimistic in my outlook. You may think the people who frequent this forum are unable to modify their behaviour, or change their views, but you would, in most cases, be wrong. Oh, few people will ever admit it, but I've seen it here and there, and in some rather unlikely suspects. ;)

The key is to encourage people to look at both sides of an argument, rather as Curmudgeon posited in their post above, and discuss the content, even if you disagree with the viewpoint. Because even a source of which you disapprove can have a valid argument, once in a while.

And what do you do when they refuse to look at both sides of the argument and would rather label it as "80 pages of propaganda"? It's just more convenient than actually thinking, you know?

Gotta wonder what the VT Superman is up to. Maybe he went and joined the Ukraine army and he's gearing up to go toe to toe with the Ruskies.

Hey, you think Gary would approve of this? I found it ridiculously funny.

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Vermont

Especially this: Vermonters are famous for sitting at an intersection for 30 minutes after the light has turned green, just in case a Martian, or a New Yorker, suddenly materializes in front of them. This often interferes with their favorite pastime, driving around the block, over and over, searching for a pedestrian for whom they can stop.

And this: Flatlander ####### are easily identifiable from the native mountain folk in several ways including lacking common sense, possessing a general assholish attitude, and driving their Massachusetts, New Jersey or New York-plated vehicles around like an idiot

Oh, I drive too much. It is a good laugh though.

You certainly have a reason to examine the evidence more closely to be sure. I am not really that hung up about 'global warming' myself. I think there are even more urgent man made crisis that we should turn our attention to, like he erosion of biodiversity both in the animal kingdom and in food production. That and ocean contamination. That's plenty to be going on with but I expect someone could turn around and tell me that mono-cultivation is in man's best interests and polluted seas are more productive for krill ;)

Personally, I'd change tack and only post 79 pages of propaganda, next time around. ;)

Ah, an argument for your wall of text? Sorry, you caerphillied me completely. I can't take any more of it on board. Suffice to say, I do read extensively outside of VJ :)

It's not that we don't believe reducing emissions, not polluting our waters, and generally striving to make our stewardship of the environment better is not a good thing. I am all for it. Heck I think the EPA overall has helped.

The issue is that man caused global warming has just not been a theory long enough to be proven 100%. Heck 40 years or so ago, most of the scientific community thought an ice age was coming. People say, well it is the hottest it has been in 2000 years. OK what caused it to be so hot 2000 years ago, donkey farts ?

What we object to is the absolute Nazi like fanaticism that people use in pushing the climate change agenda, and the fact that it is used as a political tool for many purposes. I do suppose most of you remember the inventor of the internet getting a nobel prize and claiming that New York would be under water and the polar ice caps would disappear shortly. Of course every Hollywood ex -waiter actor idiot jumped on the band wagon, so they could pat themselves on the back, as they lived in mansions that consumed enough power to power 30 households.

Still reducing greenhouse gases is a good thing.I am all for it. Let's push renewable energy and make it economically viable. We went to the moon, we can do it. Dumping billions of taxpayers money into piss poor solar companies that line donors pockets and then go under is not going to get it done

Lets take care of the environment but without hysteria

Fully agree. However, this runs contrary to left-wing agenda who want absolute control of successful Western business. The richer a country, the more energy it uses. Left-wing radicals want the power to fully throttle successful business using scare tactics against easily impressionable folks. It's a losing endeavor, but fun to watch them play with their windmills and solar powered cars. Maybe one day someone will invent the flux capacitor or cold fusion. For now, we all want our energy, our cars, our computers, our air-conditioning, TV, smart phones, lights, camera, action! If a left-winger wants to live in a remote area with windmills, solar power, and drinking water from pee conversion units, then I vote that we all enable him to be able to do so. I ain't moving in with him though.

Try to keep up. It's not the number of pages in your posts. It's the fresh poop smell that accompanies them.

Mr. Gore lives in a Maison that uses enough power to power 30 homes. It's ok because he buys carbon offsets as a tax dodge. Kinda like the ol Egyptian whipping boy

Makes me want to puke

Considering it is all paid for with daddy's money from Occidental Petroleum I am not surprised that you want to puke.

Right. He like most Hollywood liberals have sold their bag of goods to windmill and solar power laptop progressives. As long as everyone obeys the pyramid scheme the top folk can continue to dictate how the peasants should live. The tip top pyramid guys will then continue to live in luxury jetting and driving from here to there. This all takes place in a magical land called: "It makes no sense."
