As the area covered in sea ice expands scientists have said the ice on the continent of Antarctica which is not over the ocean continues to deplete.

CEO of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems CRC, Tony Worby, said the warming atmosphere is leading to greater sea ice coverage by changing wind patterns.

"The extent of sea ice is driven by the winds around Antarctica, and we believe that they're increasing in strength and part of that is around the depletion of ozone," he said.

I was going to post this story last night based on the headline, but then I read the article. Since it doesn't fit my agenda, I didn't post it.

You know you're in Vermont when you're expecting to hover right around freezing tonight, and into Sep 19 morning. Near record lows for the season. I am so glad we didn't have an insanely hot summer this year - maybe touched the low 90's for two-three days and that was it.

Once the peanut gallery is done jerking each other off, perhaps they will recognize the facts... The Antarctic ice extent is increasing, while mass is decreasing. However, predictions a few years ago predicted the amount of ice in 2014 as low as... NONE! Guess that was not quite on the money. Arctic ise mass and extent has decreased slightly. But it's too soon yet to tell if the mass down south will go up or down. And honestly, probably doesn't matter much anyway in the overall scheme of things. Temps will go up and down. Our brief little window of time for recording is not very significant in relation to the age of the earth and the temperature extremes this ole gal has seen.
