If you could roll your watch back to the late 1700s, everything that is being said about Scotland today held true back then about 13 most impertinent colonies in America. For better or worse, the Scottish people have the right to be the masters of their own destiny. Maybe it's time Marie de Guise had her final say.

The thing is, the arrangement Salmond has worked out is that if the 'No' vote wins the Scottish Parliament gets extra powers anyway... Perhaps that's what he's really after?

Yes or no, I don't think much will change. Scotland runs a lot of things its own way already. Oh, and they are not rejecting the queen as head of state either, she and the royals will still represent them regardless of the outcome

Absolutely. Nothing is set is stone and there are many uncertainties if they go their separate ways, but that is true of any independent nation at first. They have the advantage of already being integrated to the EU, which gives them a head start.

I don't think that's true. From what I understand if they leave the UK they leave the EU and will have to reapply as would any other prospective member state.

I've seen arguments for both sides on the EU membership issue... It seems the EU is not commenting, weighing its options and waiting to deal with the issue if the yeas should have it.
