PASSPORT QUESTION

Hello,

I have a question about passport. My passport expires in Feb, I do not have an interview date yet, so I will need a renew it, but since I am dual citizenship I have another passport which expires in 2021!

Does someone know if I must renew my passport, or I can just take the other one, or if I email my country's consulate will they answer me?

I'm just guessing here, but while you can bring your second passport to help prove your identity, because you are listed in the file as a citizen of a certain country, they may expect you to proof that with that passport.

Contact your first country's local consulate and ask them how long the passport renewal process takes. Most countries give you your old passport back (in the U.S. they punch a hole through it, in some countries they cut a corner off), because most countries accept currently valid visas in an old passport.

My old U.S. passport expires in February 2015, but I renewed it in June 2014, because most countries don't let you enter on a passport that will expire in less than six months. Because some of my foreign visas are valid until my passport expires, I could travel to Paraguay, for example, with my current Paraguayan visa in my old, canceled passport as long as I am also carrying my current, valid passport.

Long story short, renew your passport.
