that's cool that they had the interview today.

since the next stop is Canada -

suggest that once they are in CANADA -

they come across the boarder into the USA via landbridge,

activating the IR-5,

as it's quite possible the duration of validity on the IR-5 visas will be quite short, given a medical exam date in April. Plus it gets the ball rolling on the green card production - that first foray onto American soil.

But hey - can't plan anything until the VISA PACKET is back in their hands, and they study the visa foil inside the passport.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

huh? I'm confused....

Did you miss my posts when i mentioned they had their interview today but was refused under section 221(g) because they couldn't leave their UK passports because they are going to Canada on Sunday....

more details....

the officer marked done on their 221(g) refusal letter that they re-submit a new medical report in December when they return back from Canada (current medical report expires October) AND to also MAIL their passports?!?! to the US embassy for visa processing???

heard of that before?

If they are planning another trip, as you noted, overseas, then it sounds like they need to not send in their passports for processing until they can be in the UK for long enough to get them back. As others have noted, that can be some time.

Or postpone the trip to the Philippines.

the trip to Philippines cannot be cancelled or postponed. They have business there to sort out.

221g is documentation given when anything is missing needed to complete the visa process. It could be lack of having a financial sponsor, wrong kind of birth certificate...or in their case saying they couldn't turn in their passports for a visa until December (at which time the medical will be expired). When the embassy receives whatever is missing, they finish the visa.

It is what I posted before--

"Another option--

Interview Friday. Say we can't leave our passports at this time.

Upon returning from Canada, get a medical update which will be forwarded to the embassy. (that will buy them 6 more months on the visa validity)

Contact courier to pick up the passports to take to the embassy.

Wait for them to resurrect their file and issue the visa. It won't happen the day the passports arrive. Maybe 3 weeks???"

Parents don't wait to be scheduled by the embassy. Get the medical revalidation/update by making an appointment with the clinic. Call the courier to arrange pick up of the passport or take it to a depot if close. List and phone numbers of depots ore in this K1 guide thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/?p=6978899

Glad I copied and pasted the whole list because they don't post phone numbers anymore.

Do not MAIL passports. Use courier.

thanks Nich. forgive my ignorance, but when I contact DXS from the K1 link you provided , am I looking for the one closest to their home address? i.e they live in Dagenham, Essex.

do I simply state that that is what I am requesting (to courier their passports to the US embassy)...I am assuming also, they will provide me a cost of how much this will be..?

My mum will scan me their 221g when they get to Canada so I can actually read what it says.

Nich; They will redo their medical when they return from Canada in December, but because of the risk of possibly not receiving their passports in time before Jan 24 (when they'll travel to Philippines), they will wait until they are back form PHilippines to have their passports couriered to the US Embassy.

I asked my mum when she read the 221g notice to me if theres any mention of them having to reschedule their interview, and she said no, only to redo medical and submit their passports for visa issuance

Also, does their UK police report have a 12 month validity on them? They got theirs done in April this year..and I mention this because their ORIGINAL was shipped with their IV documents, they only have copies....and I'm not sure if Knights bridge will accept a copy of their police certificate.

I don't know how to explain it any better. They are not the first people to have to submit something back to the embassy. I said "no" to reschedule, and then you tell me Mum said no, like I said the opposite. I make a suggestion, then it gets changed by another trip.

Courier-- would they rather drop off their passports in Scotland or talk to someone at the closest place and ask questions. Wouldn't the logical question be to ask how to get the passport to the embassy? Or did you want to ask for a burger and fries?

Sorry but think I'm losing your plot and my patience. And all the trips are overly complicating things. Work it out. I did my best to help.

Read the London website about police certificate. Start here and find your answer. http://london.usembassy.gov/application_documents.html

yup. missed all.

still, the Vice-Consul gave them a path, via the 221-G document, since the medical exam duration of validity already expire.

That's stellar, really. Is rare to learn of amiable stuff from a Vice-Consul.
